JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Retention:
• Recruit, interview and hire staff for Business Unit Design and Development positions.
• Communicate criteria to recruiters for Business Unit position candidates.
• Coach other Business Unit staff in the interviewing/hiring process.
• Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.

Employee and Team Development:
• Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
• Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
• Coach and mentor manufacturing functional managers to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
• Create and manage succession plans.

Performance Management:
• Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
• Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell members, Business Unit Directors, JTS management, and Design Project Managers on Business Unit staff's contribution to the team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to Business Unit based on feedback.
• Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
• Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
• Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
• Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
• Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.

Communication:
• Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
• Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
• Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
• Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.

FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy and Direction:
• Know and understand the Business Unit's strategic directions.
• Define, develop and implement a Development strategy, which contributes to the BU strategic directions.
• Provide regular updates to Business Unit Team on the execution of the strategy.

Cost Management:
• Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
• Utilize tools to monitor cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.

Forecast Development and Accuracy:
• Support and/or prepare timely forecasts for the department.
• Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish Strategic Direction for Design and Development.
• Develop and monitor WW Economics for new product design and development- Absolute Profits, Margins, RONA.
• Develop and monitor Customer pricing/cost model in conjunction with Mfg BUDs/BUMs.
• Quantify variance to forecast and quote drivers.
• Provide Innovative Global Solutions to Customer needs.
• Administer Performance Reviews.
• Negotiate Contracts.
• Clearly understand all Operational and Strategic investment elements of Jabil's Business.
• Constantly evaluate and assess Risk versus Reward.
• Maintain strong Customer Relationships at all levels.
• Develop and maintain expertise in required Industry Sectors.
• Drive continuous improvement in all facets of supply chain performance.
• Understand and articulate the customer's strategic direction and new products roadmaps.
• Act as the voice of the customer in driving Jabil JTS/TPS product roadmaps.
• Monitor key technologies relevant to the customer's strategic direction.
• Recommend areas for Jabil/JTS to invest. Push the envelope for moving Jabil into new strategic areas.
• Ensure acceptable ROI for new product developments.
• Be the point of contact for all Jabil/JTS activities for the customer.
• Increase exposure of Jabil/JTS inside of the customer.
• Present Jabil's roadmaps and Jabil investment focus areas.
• Ensure successful TTM launch of Jabil-designed products for the customer by.
• Manage customer development projects through PM staff.
• Define high level milestones for all new development programs.
• Align with the rest of the account's Business Development team.
• Statement of Work definition/ agreement.
• Design Service Agreement negotiations.
• License requirements and agreement negotiations.
• Design cost management through PM staff.
• Ensure low cost design content.
• Monitor development budget and schedule (high level).
• Ensure seamless transition to manufacturing.
• Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with the position and as directed by supervisor.
• Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil's software packages in an integrated system such as SAP.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.
• Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company's business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.
• Strong financial and analytical ability. Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.
• Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.
• Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
• Strong and convincing communication skills.
• Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree
• 10 plus years experience;
• At least 5 years in a management role.
• International travel required.
• Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
