Location: Newington, CT

Reports to: Senior Director, Operations

Salary Grade:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Full control of Profit and loss of the business unit

Responsible for preparation and presentation of budget plans with the assistance of the Sales & Marketing and Financial departments

Participates in strategic planning

Represents the company as needed during customer visits and presentations to existing and new customers

Responsible for capacity planning, capital investments, and staffing to support business plans

Reviews daily production schedules for operations and plan with supervisors work and personnel assignments for the shifts

Through weekly and monthly reports monitor productivity and efficiencies by the department and correct with the production and engineering team as necessary

Reviews monthly product overall costs and make adjustments as required to meet budgeted standards

Maintains customer schedules and communication of work progress

Reviews weekly sales progress and adherence to sales budget

Reviews weekly progress of development parts and reviews priorities with Engineering Manager

Reviews parts non-quality activity weekly, identify negative trends, opportunities for improvement and corrective action through the involvement of Engineering and Manufacturing supervisors

Assess performance of staff periodically, provides feedback to managers and make adjustments as needed

With the assistance of the HR manager and area supervisors/ managers, maintain training and development of personnel

Defines yearly goals for the business unit and reviews progress every quarter

Carries performance appraisal of direct reports every year and establish measurable goals and objectives for each report

Provides support to Corporate staff in maintaining compliance with Health and Safety requirements and OSHA requirements

Ensures compliance with employee company policies

Maintains housekeeping and a safe environment for employees

Communicates business updates to employees through monthly employee meetings posted or documented communications

Plan, develop and implement organization policies and goals.

Coordinates activities of divisions or departments such as operating, manufacturing, engineering, planning, and sales, maintenance, or research and development, to effect operational efficiency and economy.

Directs and coordinates the promotion of products manufactured or services performed to develop new markets, increase the share of market, and obtain a competitive position in the industry.

Analyzes division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made, and allocates operating budget.

Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.

Directs preparation of directives to division or department or department administrator outlining policy, program, or operation changes to be implemented.

Promotes organization in industry, manufacturing or trade associations.

Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs.

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility

Requirements:

Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

Five+ years experience in all phases of operations management.

Experience in the manufacture of major rotating jet engine components preferred

Bachelor's degree in a related field, i.e., mechanical, aerospace.

MBA degree preferred including financial training/classes

Must have 4+ years of supervisory experience in a metalworking job shop environment. Strong personal leadership and communications abilities

Ability to change the culture and bring sustained changes for improved efficiencies and growth

Ability to surround himself with A players

Ability to mentor and coach reports to becoming active managers driven by speed, execution and results
