Basic Function

SB Energy is seeking a highly technical and strategic Director, OFCI Equipment Procurement Engineering to build and lead a centralized procurement engineering organization supporting the deployment of next-generation AI factory and advanced data center infrastructure programs.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, this role will establish and oversee procurement engineering standards, supplier technical qualification processes, manufacturing capability assessments, factory testing validation programs, and equipment quality assurance frameworks for mission-critical OFCI infrastructure equipment.

The Director will serve as the primary technical interface between supply chain, engineering, construction, commissioning, OEM suppliers, and manufacturing organizations to ensure equipment performance, manufacturability, reliability, quality, and deployment readiness align with SB Energy's infrastructure standards and hyperscale deployment objectives.

This role will lead development of a procurement engineering team responsible for Basis of Design (BOD) technical alignment, supplier manufacturing evaluations, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), factory witness testing validation, supplier quality audits, and technical risk management across critical electrical, thermal, modular, and power infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate combines deep engineering expertise with supplier quality management, manufacturing operations, mission-critical infrastructure knowledge, commissioning coordination, and organizational leadership experience within large-scale industrial, energy, utility, advanced manufacturing, or hyperscale data center environments.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with practical experience in mission-critical infrastructure equipment, supplier quality management, manufacturing processes, factory testing, and deployment execution within data center, industrial, utility, energy, or advanced manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead the OFCI Equipment Procurement Engineering organization supporting hyperscale AI infrastructure and advanced data center deployment programs
  • Develop procurement engineering standards, operating procedures, technical review frameworks, and supplier qualification processes
  • Lead development, standardization, and governance of OFCI equipment Basis of Design (BOD) requirements across infrastructure deployment programs
  • Oversee technical evaluation and qualification processes for mission-critical infrastructure equipment suppliers
  • Lead technical review activities for, equipment specifications, supplier submittals, engineering drawings, compliance documentation, performance requirements, manufacturing methodologies
  • Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct supplier quality audits and manufacturing inspections at OEM and supplier facilities
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action management for quality incidents, manufacturing defects, and equipment non-conformance events
  • Develop supplier quality metrics, audit scorecards, and performance reporting frameworks
  • Support operational readiness reviews and deployment risk assessments
  • Partner closely with supply chain category management, construction, commissioning, logistics, and project delivery teams to support deployment readiness
  • Support technical issue resolution during manufacturing, delivery, installation, startup, and commissioning phases
  • Coordinate technical escalation management related to equipment quality, manufacturing readiness, testing deficiencies, and operational risks
  • Participate in strategic supplier reviews, technology evaluations, and infrastructure roadmap discussions


Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure equipment, procurement engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing operations, commissioning, factory testing, or technical procurement activities
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading procurement engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or technical operations teams
  • Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure systems supporting data centers, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, advanced manufacturing, or energy infrastructure environments
  • Extensive experience supporting: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Factory Witness Testing (FWT), manufacturing quality audits, equipment validation programs, commissioning support activities
  • Experience conducting supplier manufacturing assessments, operational audits, or manufacturing capability evaluations
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical and/or mechanical infrastructure systems and equipment
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications, engineering drawings, supplier documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical coordination across engineering, supply chain, construction, commissioning, and supplier organizations
  • Strong analytical, organizational leadership, technical documentation, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data center, semiconductor, industrial, utility, energy, or mission-critical infrastructure deployment programs strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier manufacturing facilities, testing sites, and project locations


Location: San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, CA, or Denver, CO preferred. Hybrid.

Remote locations within the United States will also be considered on a case by case basis.

Base Pay - $190,000 - $220,000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks-while ensuring internal parity across our teams. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
