The CNN New Business team is pioneering the development of innovative, standalone products that go beyond news. We aim to create distinctive non-news experiences that will enrich users' lives and help drive our subscription business.

As the Director of Visuals for New Business, you will lead the visual expression of our editorial strategy for a portfolio of new digital products across a variety of lifestyle categories. You will define the creative vision for our visual content, shaping the look and feel for how we connect with audiences and establishing a clear, ownable identity for individual products while ensuring cohesion across the broader portfolio. You will set the creative standard, guide teams toward it, and ensure that everything we produce reflects a clear and compelling point of view. You bring a strong point of view, a refined sense of taste, and the ability to create work that is both differentiated and durable.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, has impeccable editorial judgment, and deep experience with defining and executing visuals strategies across multiple media formats and platforms. This role blends creative leadership with hands-on contribution, serving as a mentor, strategic thinker, and storyteller who actively creates and guides compelling visual narratives across digital, video, and social platforms.

Your Role Accountabilities
  • Define and lead the overarching creative vision for New Business editorial experiences, establishing a cohesive yet flexible identity across a portfolio of products.
  • Develop a distinct visuals strategy for each product, ensuring they are differentiated, memorable, and aligned with their editorial purpose and audience
  • Work closely alongside editorial, product, and experience design partners to create the visual expression of our editorial voice and product vision, establishing a set of creative principles that can scale across different mediums and formats.
  • Lead visual ideation at the earliest stages of editorial and product planning, helping to navigate a path through ambiguity into clearly defined visual guidelines that establish standards and best practices for video, photography, illustration, and mixed-media.
  • Set and uphold a high creative bar, using judgment and taste to shape work at a conceptual level
  • Oversee and collaborate with design, video, photo, and production partners across the organization, guiding with a clear visual direction and providing constructive feedback when necessary.
  • Build and maintain a diverse network of photographers, illustrators, and visual artists, managing all commissioning and workflows of production including internal assignments, sourcing, and licensing.
  • Oversee contracts, photo fees, and usage rights with internal and external stakeholders, tracking and maintaining the overall creative budget.
  • Ensure clear, proactive communication around visual direction, execution, and delivery, aligning internal teams with brand partners and vendors

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in creative direction, brand leadership, or visual storytelling, with a strong foundation in media or culturally relevant consumer products
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a clear and distinctive creative point of view, with experience building or evolving brands or creative systems
  • Deep understanding of how creative expression translates across digital platforms, including product, video, and social
  • Proven ability to operate at a strategic level, shaping vision and guiding teams to produce visuals in multi-media formats, with particular emphasis on video and photo direction
  • Strong creative judgment and the ability to articulate direction clearly and persuasively to cross-functional partners

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $260,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
