JOB SUMMARY:

The College of Nursing and Public Health at Adelphi University is pleased to invite applications for the position of Inaugural Director for the Physician Assistant Program to be based in Adelphi's new Manhattan Center. This is an open rank faculty position.

The Director of Physician Assistant (PA) Program provides overall leadership and administrative oversight for the PA program, ensuring the program meets and exceeds the standards set by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). This role involves leading the development, implementation, and management of the program's curriculum and operations, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring the success of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  1. Be responsible for creation, development, accreditation, operationalization, and management of a new PA program at Adelphi University and envision what distinguishes the program in the NYC market.
  2. Lead and be responsible for development of all ARC-PA required accreditation candidacy documents, and oversight of all ongoing accreditation assessment and compliance.
  3. Oversee the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  4. Assist with hiring, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff involved with the program, demonstrating responsiveness to issues related to personnel.
  5. Have a background in clinical practice, as well as deep experience in teaching and academic administration.
  6. Assist with hiring, orientation, and supervision, of faculty and staff involved with the program, demonstrating responsiveness to issues related to personnel, leadership, program development, accreditation, and program assessment.
  7. Participate in evaluation of student performance and academic counseling of students.
  8. Demonstrate evidence of teaching and curriculum expertise, faculty development and mentorship competencies, as well as enthusiasm for inter-professional collaboration.
  9. Manage the program's budget and ensure appropriate resources are available to support its operations.
  10. Develop, expand, and maintain affiliations with clinical sites and physician preceptors to provide high-quality clinical rotation experiences for students.
  11. The successful candidate will be based at the new Manhattan Center.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Licensure as a Physician Assistant in NY State with a minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience practicing as a PA.
  2. Relevant doctoral degree is preferred.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in academic administration, health professions teaching, and faculty development.
  4. Knowledge of and experience with healthcare regulations, standards, and the accreditation process for PA programs.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
