ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer, manage, and maintain work systems for district operations, as needed.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and manage the Long Range Technology Plan.
  • Manage the projects related to the deployment and development of technology systems and refresh cycles.
  • Oversee and execute communications from, about, and regarding the technology department.
  • Review, evaluate, develop and/or implement policies and guidelines for district hardware, software, and network use and purchases.
  • Evaluate the merits of various products and vendors.
  • Make recommendations for the selection of equipment, tools, supplies, and professional development related to technology.
  • Suggest consultants and/or programs to meet district needs associated with cybersecurity, instructional technology, data warehousing, and district programming.
  • Direct and supervise budgeting, compliance, grants, e-Rate, reporting requirements, and data management.
  • Supervise and facilitate communication and reporting between ISBE and the District.
  • Assist in the coordination of student assessments and the reporting of student data, as requested.
  • Facilitate and implement communication mechanisms in the district, including but not limited to, website oversight, app communications, and social media framework.
  • Assist with the development and/or presentation of reports to the Board of Education.
  • Troubleshoot problems with hardware and software not functioning and make decisions as to needed repair.
  • Along with central office, building administrators, teachers, and technology committees, maintain and revise computer curriculum and technology integration strategies for each building.
  • Assist the building staff, administrators, and central office in the development of long-term instructional goals, which incorporate technology into the curriculum.
  • Assist the special education staff and other appropriate personnel to provide appropriate adaptive technology for disabled staff members or students.
  • Serve as catalyst for planning and designing of future technology use.
  • Develop, update and maintain a software inventory and hardware inventory, and maintain an inventory of licensing agreements as required by law, and District policy.
  • Ensure and maintain appropriate confidentiality among the following areas (this is not an inclusive list): electronic records, payroll information, health information, student and personnel records, and other sensitive information data or material as it relates to technology.
  • Protect students from exposure to unsuitable material by selecting and installing Internet filters.
  • Develop specifications for quote or bid of new or replacement equipment. This includes the ordering of equipment and software.
  • Assist in obtaining outside funding for the support of technology by participating in grant planning and proposal writing.
  • Develop and maintain a list of computer resource people and companies that can assist teachers, administrators, and support staff in all areas of technology.
  • Maintain and supervise the schools' web pages.
  • File all necessary reports at national, state, and local levels.
  • Evaluate and supervise all members of the technology department
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Shall assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by immediate Supervisor. Furthermore, the Supervisor shall make any adjustments in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Significant experience with integrated and innovative use of instructional technology
  • Demonstrated ability to observe, evaluate, and provide feedback to the technology team
  • An instructional leader who has completed a principal preparation program with a principal or general administrative endorsement on a Professional Educator License (PEL) and is eligible to work as a school principal.
