As ATB's next Director of Software Development, you will lead digital teams in building world-class applications for our clients. Leading a team with a penchant for delivery, you are a builder at heart who loves to mentor strong developers, solve complex problems, and roll your sleeves up to dive deep into technology.
In this role, you will act as a thought leader who influences strategy, interprets and implements business plans, and provides expert advice at a digital channel level. You will bridge the gap between visionary thinking and technical execution, motivating and inspiring high-performing teams to deliver innovative solutions to our most complex architectural and business challenges. The Director leads teams across the entire software development lifecycle by designing, developing, testing, delivering, maintaining, and improving applications to optimize ATB user experiences and workflows.
Accountabilities- Vision & Strategy: Steer the technical vision, prioritize efforts, set clear team goals, and develop channel specific business plans alongside robust technical roadmaps.
- People Leadership: Build, motivate, and mentor high-performing, delivery-focused engineering teams while actively cultivating a strong internal and external talent pipeline.
- Innovation & Execution: Identify, explore, and deploy new and upcoming technologies from initial prototype to scale.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with performance-oriented product and business teams to ensure technical development aligns with overall corporate strategy and vision.
- Technical Excellence: Provide hands-on direction and expertise in software development and systems integration, while managing individual project priorities and deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously drive initiatives to explore, enhance, automate, and optimize systems and tools to meet rapidly evolving market and business needs.
Skills, Experience & Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related Software Development field or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of relevant experience working in software development, operations or similar.
- 5+ years managing other engineers or leading a team of developers in an Agile environment.
- Deep understanding of modern software development practices and current knowledge of advancements in AI tooling.
- Decisive and self-directed, comfortable working in a rapid-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Experience with financial or security-focused technology is not required but is preferred.
