Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Managing Security Operations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures.
  • Conduct investigations of all incidents involving loss, theft, or damage to hotel property and refer findings to the appropriate management for resolution.
  • Deploy Security team members to effectively monitor and protect hotel assets, guests, employees, and visitors.
  • Comply with Fairmont's safety, security, and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Manage proper maintenance of all fire life safety system components, ensuring all components are in compliance with State & City regulations.
  • Conduct periodic patrols of the hotel, grounds, and parking areas.
  • Handle ongoing usage of panic button system & ensure proper compliance is being met.
  • Recognize and celebrate team successes across areas of responsibility.
  • Handle complaints, resolve conflicts, and negotiate solutions with guests, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to minimize physical hazards and unsafe work practices.
  • Implement action plans to monitor and mitigate operational risk.
  • Ensure nightlife venue Safety & Security protocols are being adhered to. Maintain proper occupancy within venue and continual engagement with venue Security.
  • Maintain required reports and documentation regarding security patrols, incidents, and investigations.
  • Ensure appropriate emergency response and timely access to medical assistance when needed.

Leading Security Teams
  • Attend pre- and post-convention meetings, daily operations briefings, and weekly forecast meetings to understand group needs and communicate critical information to the Security team.
  • Celebrate successes by publicly recognizing the contributions of team members.
  • Communicate the importance of safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and security standards while ensuring employee understanding and compliance.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Identify developmental opportunities and coaches, mentors, and supports employees in improving their knowledge and skills.
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members, including establishing performance expectations and monitoring performance.
  • Provide personal assistance, emergency support, or first aid as appropriate to guests and employees.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating Fairmont's values and leadership behaviors.
  • Solicit employee feedback, maintain an open-door policy, and address employee concerns in a timely and respectful manner.

Ensuring Exceptional Guest Service
  • Demonstrate leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies exceptional service, and create a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Empower employees to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
  • Ensure quality standards and guest expectations are consistently met.
  • Incorporate guest safety and satisfaction into departmental meetings with a focus on continuous improvement.

Conducting Human Resources Activities
  • Assist in minimizing workers' compensation and liability costs through proactive incident prevention and effective claims management.
  • Partner with the People & Culture department on employee relations and workplace concerns as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation and promptly reports employee injuries, guest incidents, and general liability events in accordance with Fairmont policies.
  • Administer hotel policies fairly, consistently, and professionally.
  • Ensure Security team members maintain required certifications, including First Aid and CPR, where applicable.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and complaints.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate educational opportunities for Security team members.
  • Deliver service that exceeds guest expectations and support guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Co-champion the Safety Committee along with partners in People & Culture.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to identify effective solutions and resolve operational issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and community agencies.
  • Keep executives, peers, and team members informed of relevant operational and security matters in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and external partners by telephone, email, written correspondence, and in person.
