Full Job Description
The Director of Technical Sales supports the Northeast branches of DXP with cutting tool expertise and sales skills. Emphasis on Western NY and PA. Assist the team with maximizing sales and margins while limiting time spent where ROI is not going to be sufficient. Promote the IMPACT Selling model with the team. Coordinate effective market penetration by increasing new customers and further developing and retaining existing accounts.

This position will be at the forefront of driving our technical sales strategy and execution. You will leverage your extensive technical expertise and sales acumen to support both junior and high-performing teams, ensuring that our customers receive tailored solutions that meet their unique business needs. Your ability to bridge the gap between technical capabilities, sales strategy, and business outcomes will be crucial in positioning DXP as a trusted and valued supplier in the Northeast.

Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor the sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation that drives sales performance
• Understanding customer needs, presenting technical solutions, and driving sales growth.
• Guiding the management of customer relationships, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring the technical feasibility of proposed solutions
• For the newer members of the team, focus on supporting sales efforts and learning technical aspects. Assist with supplier relations and choosing which brands to emphasize and work with. Ensure territory planning, forecasting, time allocation, research and documentation. Cultivate and develop strong customer relationships.
• For the senior members of the team, focus on developing sales strategies, supporting their specific requirements
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share
• Collaborate closely with Regional VP and suppliers to align technical offerings with customer needs, including sale, setup and operation of VMI or vending programs
• Engage with key stakeholders to understand their business challenges and present tailored solutions with the sales team.
• Oversee the preparation of technical presentations, proposals, and RFP responses, ensuring clarity and alignment with customer objectives
• Utilize the IMPACT process, metrics and feedback to continuously improve the sales process and customer engagement strategies
• Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
• Develop new accounts in the region

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required:
• 20+ years of experience in technical sales or related roles, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets
• Strong technical background for CNC machining
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Proven leadership skills, with a focus on team development and empowerment
• Ability to travel between our Northeast branch locations

Preferred:
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key clients and industry partners
• Familiarity with CRM tools and sales enablement platforms
• Experience with data analytics and performance metrics to drive sales strategies
