Job Description:

  • Oversees the system for identification and analysis of loss or injury exposure in conjunction with the Risk Management team.
  • Maintains both mandatory and voluntary incident reporting systems to identify and evaluate unit-specific risk issues.
  • Provides analysis on areas of risk throughout the enterprise to identify, evaluate, eliminate, or reduce incidents in high-risk areas.
  • Maintains documentation on identified trends and sentinel events, referring to the appropriate committee, manager, or individual for follow-up.
  • Participates in Risk Management education for new employees, current personnel, and providers to enhance attention to prevention of potential hazards.
  • Coordinates, chairs, or facilitates RCA (root cause analysis) for serious risk or harm events.
  • Reviews records and documentation for potentially compensable events, reporting liability claims to administration for establishing adequate loss reserves.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents, gathering information, sequestering equipment, and securing records.
  • Coordinates the legal process for scheduling statements, depositions, and trial appearances in response to employee subpoenas regarding liability cases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to develop and provide education to a mixed variety of clinical and non-clinical staff as well as leadership. [Required]
  • Competent in use of standard computer and typing skills, and electronic medical record software. [Required]
  • Knowledge and competence in working with Risk Master [Required]


Education:
  • Bachelor's [Required]
  • Master's [Preferred]


Field of Study:
  • Bachelor's in nursing or another clinical health care related field
  • Master's of Science degree


Work Experience:
  • 5+ years of previous experience in risk management [Required]
  • 5+ years as an RN in the clinical setting [Required]

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) [Preferred]
