Salary: 100,000/yr - 110,000/yr, DOE

Schedule: No two weeks look the same at Chase Field and thats part of the excitment! We support MLB games, concerts, and special events, this position requires flexibility. You can expect a mix of evenings, weekends, holidays, and event driven shifts throughout the year.

The Director of Retail Operations is a visionary and hands-on leader responsible for strategic oversight, operational excellence, and financial performance of retail operations within Chase Field. Reporting to senior leadership, this role leads the overall retail program, blending big-picture strategic thinking with direct engagement in day-to-day retail activations, team development, and guest experience. This leader champions a guest first culture and operational rigor, serving as the critical link between retail teams, venue partners, and corporate stakeholders. They are accountable for implementing effective systems, maximizing profitability, elevating the retail experience, and developing high-performing, autonomous leaders while ensuring seamless execution across all venue retail operations.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide visionary leadership with clients and vendors, ensuring alignment with each client's brand goals and operational needs.
  • Serve as the senior liaison for client relationships, presenting business reviews, collaborating on activation strategies, and driving long-term growth initiatives.
  • Allocate leadership focus effectively across physical retail, e-commerce, and event-based operations. ~75% operational oversight, ~25% company initiatives.
  • Own full P&L accountability, including sales performance, labor management, cost controls, and capital expenditure approvals.
  • Monitor business trends and analytics to proactively identify opportunities and risks, deploying action plans to optimize revenue and margin performance.
  • Implement and refine scalable operational systems, SOPs, and reporting frameworks to ensure consistent excellence across all units.
  • Cultivate a high-trust, inclusive, and results-driven team culture rooted in open communication, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Mentor and develop multi-layered teams including General Managers, Retail Supervisors, Visual Merchandisers, and frontline staff to build leadership depth and elevate guest service standards.
  • Lead from the floor during key activations and peak business periods, modeling service excellence and team engagement.
  • Oversee inventory management, merchandising standards, visual presentation, and POS system utilization (e.g., Retail Pro, Retail Cloud, Shopify.)
  • Partner with clients to curate compelling product assortments and execute impactful promotional campaigns across venues.
  • Ensure seamless omnichannel alignment, integrating in=store and e-commerce experiences to maximize customer engagement.
  • Direct retail operations for high-profile events, including sports games, concerts, playoffs, and conventions, ensuring flawless execution and inventory control.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on venue buildouts, store design, and activation planning to create immersive retail experiences.
  • Leverage data from retail systems and workforce management tools & E15 to generate insights on financial, operational, and guest experience metrics.
  • Communicate performance updates, market trends, and strategic recommendations to clients and leadership teams.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in multi-unit retail leadership, preferably within sports, entertainment, or dynamic destination retail environments.
  • Proven success managing complex P&Ls, multi-location teams, and client partnerships with a strong financial and operational acumen.
  • Expertise with retail technologies, including Retail Pro, Retail Cloud, Shopify, WFM, and analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable leading in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, ascending/descending stairs, 8-10 hours daily across retail and event spaces.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as required by operations.
  • Travel may be required within assigned region and/or support opportunities and flexible work hours based on event schedules.
