Summary:

  • The Radiology Leader provides administrative, clinical, and operational oversight for assigned modality, including inpatient and outpatient Radiology services in alignment with the One Penn Radiology vision and the organization's mission and goals. This role ensures safe, high-quality, patient-centered care through standardized practices, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and collaborative leadership.Responsibilities include oversight of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, DOH, FDA, HIPAA); workforce management encompassing recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, performance management, leadership development, and staff retention; and operational management including policy and procedure development, staffing and scheduling, daily operations, payroll, vendor management, equipment evaluation and procurement, and staff education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative, clinical, and operational oversight of all inpatient and outpatient Radiology services. Ensure continuous compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, DOH, FDA, HIPAA). Lead workforce management including recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, performance management, engagement, and retention. Partner with Medical Directors and enterprise stakeholders to oversee clinical quality, safety, research, CEQI, and performance improvement initiatives. Manage daily operations including staffing, scheduling, payroll, policies and procedures, vendor relations, and equipment procurement. Drive patient experience, service excellence, and operational efficiency through data driven decision making. Develop and manage capital and operating budgets
  • monitor variances and identify cost saving opportunities. Maintain continuous accreditation readiness and support regulatory surveys. Advance the One Penn Radiology vision through standardized practices, collaboration, and shared accountability across sites and modalities. Serve as Administrative Director designee and assume administrative leadership responsibilities as needed. Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures Other duties assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
  • Modality Specific Accountabilities Assist in directing daily operations for assigned modality across all Penn Medicine radiology sites Optimize scheduling, workflow, and patient throughput Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and productivity metrics Support implementation of departmental strategic goals Supervise assigned modality Managers, Lead Technologists, and Technologists Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations Coordinate continuing education and modality specific safety training Promote a culture of accountability and teamwork Ensure adherence to modality specific protocols and imaging standards Support quality assurance (QA) and quality improvement (QI) initiatives Review incident reports and implement corrective actions Oversee modality safety compliance and policy enforcement Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission standards Support accreditation requirements from the American College of Radiology (ACR) Ensure compliance with HIPAA and state/federal regulations Prepare documentation for audits and inspections Assist with budget preparation and capital equipment planning Monitor expenses, revenue, and cost-containment strategies Participate in vendor negotiations and service contract reviews Support expansion planning and new technology implementation Address patient concerns and escalated service issues Support initiatives to improve patient satisfaction scores
Credentials:

  • Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)
  • Current Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic technologists (ARRT), RDMS, RMSKS, CNMT or RPA
  • Certified Radiology Administrator (Required)
  • Certified Radiology Administrator. Must be obtained within first year upon hire if candidate does not possess a master's degree.
