SUMMARY:

The Director of Radiology plays a crucial role in overseeing the radiology department, ensuring that all imaging services are delivered with the highest standards of quality and patient safety. This position is responsible for managing staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a collaborative environment among healthcare professionals. The director will also be instrumental in implementing new technologies and processes to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. By maintaining strong relationships with physicians and other departments, the Director of Radiology ensures seamless communication and collaboration in patient treatment plans. Ultimately, this role is vital in delivering accurate diagnostic imaging services that contribute to effective patient outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees daily operations of the radiology department, ensuring efficient workflow, achieving production goals and high-quality imaging services.
  • Manages and mentor radiology staff in operation of imaging equipment such as x-ray machines, sonography equipment, fluoroscope, CT scanner or MRI equipment, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance and evaluating accuracy.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards and safety protocols, including patient safety measures.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and imaging services.
  • Implements and evaluate new technologies and processes to improve departmental efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Plans, directs and monitors quality assurance program to conform to federal, state, local and hospital regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepares and administers budget for imaging services, including evaluating new medical imaging equipment and providing recommendation for purchasing.
  • Designs and supervises training for radiologic students.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
