Job Description:

Onvo is looking for an experienced and certified Director of Projects to manage multiple construction projects from the bid stage to completion. This position will be responsible for adhering to financial and time budgets, organization, contractor management, cost-effective implementation, and scheduling of projects. This position will also manage project coordinator positions across multiple jobs.

Essential Functions:
  • Oversee and direct in-depth construction projects from final design and engineering to completion, on schedule and at or below budget.
  • Coordinate and direct general contractors, subcontractors, and project coordinators.
  • Ability to interact with general and subcontractors, company personnel and municipalities to produce positive results.
  • Can communicate with both strong written and verbal skills and act professionally in all meetings, settings, and interactions.
  • Oversee multiple or complex projects with minimal oversite from preconstruction, design, bidding, bid award, scheduling, logistical coordination and construction, while maintaining compliance with standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Negotiate construction contract through a complete understanding of company's contract terms, standards, and conditions. Seek legal opinion to draft contracts and ensure permits and licenses are obtained. When directly managing subcontractors, prepare and manage scopes of work to prevent scope gap, overlap, or waste.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee, value engineering, and pricing decisions.
  • Develop and maintain contractor relationships by building trust, responsibility, and fairness.
  • Lead schedule construction reviews, manage change order requests, coordinate necessary structural or aesthetic adjustments with engineers or other trades to keep projects on track.
  • Work with project coordinator, contractors, and company safety manager to implement, maintain, and enforce safety protocols.
  • Immediately respond to any jobsite incident/accident/crisis to protect employees, contractors, and others with the goal that everyone returns home safely every day.
  • Work closely with company's procurement department to track, and manage purchases, inventory, equipment, and building materials.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to the job status on a scheduled basis.
  • Provide technical and professional assistance to project coordinators to aid in their development and the positive outcome of every project.
  • Manage contractor RFIs with timely responses and communication to all related parties.
  • Generate and promote a consistent sense of urgency throughout the project to keep everyone on schedule.
  • Manage, review, and approve all contractor payment applications, on schedule. Document and submit adjustments to management.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and techniques are maintained by all contractors and that no shortcuts are permitted.
  • Prepare punch list of deficiencies, manage corrective actions, and close out finished projects


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven working experience in construction management.
  • Advanced knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to read construction drawings in PDF and AutoCAD format.
  • Ability to plan and see the big picture.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.


Credentials and Experience:
  • Preferred 4-year degree (BSCE, BSCM, BSAE, etc.) in construction management or related field OR 7 years relevant experience.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Demonstrated competency in scheduling, budget, cost control, financial reporting,
  • client/contractor relationships, interpersonal, computer, communication, leadership, and
  • organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret schedules, AIA contracts, blueprints, CAD drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Competent in PC-based scheduling, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, CAD, and Procore.
  • OSHA 30-Hour safety certification preferred.
  • LEED background a plus.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Driving and travel required.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at jobsites.
