Position SummaryThe Director of Project Development is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing complex development projects from concept through completion. This role serves as the central project lead, working cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and strategic objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the full lifecycle of development projects, including new locations, expansions, and major renovations
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Operations, IT, Finance, Merchandising, Visual, Marketing, HR and Supply Chain
- Serve as primary point of contact for external stakeholders such as landlords, architects, contractors, and vendors
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to senior leadership
- Manage capital expenditure budgets and track project costs
- Identify and resolve issues that may impact scope, timeline, or budget
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards
- Establish standardized project documentation, reporting tools, and best practices
- Support site feasibility, planning, and strategic development initiatives
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience- Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, development, or related roles
- Experience managing complex, multi-phase projects
- Retail, hospitality, airport, or commercial development experience preferred
Skills and Abilities- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong financial and budget management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana, or similar)
