Job Title: Director Production Engineering

Position Overview

The Director of Production Engineering provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for the structural, piping, and outfitting engineering departments. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, optimizing production design frameworks, and aligning engineering capabilities with Bollinger's long-term business and program objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance
  • Establish and refine engineering department procedures, technical standards, and governance processes to maximize operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Cultivate a high-performing culture by mentoring leadership talent, driving employee evaluation frameworks, and designing strategic workforce plans to optimize team capabilities.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between design agents, vendors, and internal disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.

Program Execution & Financial Accountability
  • Hold ultimate accountability for department budgets and schedules, defining accurate Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) metrics and cost-control strategies across all engineering programs.
  • Oversee the technical execution of all detailed production designs and construction drawings, ensuring absolute compliance with specifications and engineering standards.
  • Serve as the escalation point for critical production issues, driving rapid, systemic solutions to minimize operational downtime.

Regulatory & Lifecycle Management
  • Champion compliance strategies across all programs, maintaining definitive oversight of interactions with regulatory agencies and classification societies.
  • Direct the resolution of complex design review comments from regulatory bodies to safeguard project timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive marine vessel design and engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a dedicated managerial or director-level capacity.

  • Executive Leadership: Proven track record of scaling engineering teams, managing multiple concurrent programs, and building highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary departments.
