POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for oversight of public utilities, security systems (alarms, access controls, etc.), HVAC systems, physical plant operations, housekeeping, dietary, grounds and landscaping as well as managing capital projects. The Plant Operations Director supervises the maintenance and purchasing functions of the facility. The Plant Operations Director ensures the maintenance of a safe, clean, healthy physical environment for patients, staff and guests of the organization. Maintain documentation for various regulatory agencies such as JC, TDH, City of Austin and Fire Marshall. The Plant Operations Director functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Austin Oaks Hospital. This Plant Operations Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities- but not limited to: - Overall responsibility and compliance in the JC Environment of Care
- Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations as well as specific managed care regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance for Fire and Life Safety Codes, building and engineering codes
- Proficient in Disaster Planning, Recovery and Mitigation
- Facilitates an ongoing Building Maintenance Program as suggested and documents outcomes for Safety Committee
- Maintenance and operations of HVAC equipment, infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and grounds and roof maintenance
- Maintains Computerized Maintenance Management where available
- Facilitates and ensures compliance with medical equipment, hazardous materials and utility processes and policies
- Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures
- Proficient in analyzing and communicating quality/safety performance data, directing, assisting and supporting facility improvement
- Plans and documents EOC and plant operations programs that are reported to Safety Committee
- Strong management skills and the ability to communicate in verbal and written form, in a clear concise manner with staff and administrative personnel are required
- Performs problem solving and decision-making in a logical and deliberate manner, utilizing available resources, when appropriate

Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management or related field. Education may be substituted with experience on a year-to-year basis.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Valid Class C driver license; clean driving record.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years facilities management or related experience with at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Must have experience with reading blueprints and understand Life Safety Codes, Joint Commission and other regulatory Standards and OSHA Regulations. Experience in a hospital or psychiatric facility highly preferred.
WORK HOURS: 40 per week and on-call.
