Full Job Description
As the Director of Payment Services, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership for ACH processing, wire transfers, check processing, mobile deposits, person-to-person payments, account-to-account transfers, and other payment channels and services. You'll partner closely with the Vice President of Cards and Payment Services to drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, service quality, innovation, and risk management while leading a high-performing team that supports an exceptional member experience. This position also actively supports and promotes the credit union movement through political advocacy.

What you'll need to be successful:

Strategic Payment Services Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading payment operations within a financial institution, including ACH, wire transfers, electronic payments, settlements, reconciliations, exception processing, and operational controls. Proven ability to develop and execute strategies that improve efficiency, scalability, service quality, and member experience while aligning with organizational objectives.

Payment Operations, Risk & Compliance Expertise: Extensive knowledge of payment systems, regulatory requirements, fraud prevention practices, operational risk management, and industry best practices. Ability to establish strong internal controls, oversee audits and examinations, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including BSA/AML/OFAC requirements.

Leadership & Team Development: Minimum of five years of management experience with demonstrated success developing leaders, coaching employees, fostering accountability, and building high-performing teams. Ability to lead change, support succession planning, drive performance, and cultivate a collaborative, service-focused culture.

Analytical, Financial & Operational Excellence: Strong analytical, business, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate operational performance, identify trends and risks, leverage reporting and data insights, and make informed decisions that enhance operational effectiveness and support strategic objectives. Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party service providers preferred.

Experience & Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial institution operations, payment services, treasury services, or related disciplines. Minimum five years of management experience required. Experience utilizing payment processing platforms, reporting tools, and payment technologies preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills are a plus.
