Responsibilities

  • Manage operational teams including cultivation, manufacturing, sales, and compliance.
  • Recruit, hire, and train teams across various operational facets.
  • Set production and operational goals, tracking performance against commercial sales plans.
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage infrastructure, systems, and maintenance programs for grower processing.
  • Ensure inventory levels support timely order fulfillment and maintain gross margin.
  • Coach and mentor team members while providing operational feedback.

Full Job Description
The Director of Operations is charged with operationalizing and managing existing and new recreational and medicinal, manufacturing and distribution operations. The Director of Operations will lead all operational teams, including sales operations, purchasing, inventory management, cultivation, manufacturing, fulfillment, safety, quality, and compliance. The Director of Operations must be willing to get their hands dirty and contribute at all operational levels, train and mentor team members as well as providing operational guidance and metrics to the executive team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage cultivation, post-processing, extraction and infusion teams' production to commercial sales plan, annual operational budget, and regulatory requirements
  • Recruit, hire, and train grower processor operations, manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, and fulfillment teams
  • Set production and operational goals, compare performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed to commercial sales plan
  • Assess current SOPs, identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions
  • Manage grower processor infrastructure and systems, production equipment, and associated service contracts and facility maintenance programs
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels for all SKUs and timely order fulfillment
  • Monitor gross margin for all SKUs and provide accurate reporting and forecasting of material costs
  • Coach, mentor and provide feedback to team members
  • Facilitate and execute all corporate financial management, human resources, and internal and external audit programs
  • Work diligently with Commercial and Retail teams to understand and react to market opportunities with appropriate product development strategies
  • Development, measure and mange to Performance Indicators (PIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous and productivity improvements
  • Manage facility performance data. Brief weekly, monthly and quarterly performance to executive partners
  • Oversee Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) with Commercial partners
  • Manage all grower input materials, packaging, ingredients, biomass, and distillate inventories weekly, monthly and quarterly to achieve Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting
  • Develop, analyze, and implement manufacturing workflow creating the most efficient operational program
  • Support all capital expenditures (CAPEX), strategy and capital plan for the facility, project integrations and additions to current facility and operations
  • Establish facility policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Maintain strong knowledge in the rapidly developing regulatory/legislative structures of the cannabis industry across all territories.
  • Facilitate a strong EHS program. Responsible for overseeing employee safety and reporting in accordance with local/state/and federal laws
  • Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations
  • Lead with a people-first mentality while demonstrating strong servant leadership and striking the balance between empathetic and accountable leadership
  • Other duties as assigned


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Management or any related field required; MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of operations/supply chain experience and a minimum of 5 years leadership experience
  • Proven ability to manage all operational aspects of a facility in a similar industry (cannabis, craft beer, food & beverage, natural household goods, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead a team to meet quotas in a dynamic market
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed and identify critical issues to develop and execute a go-to-market strategy
  • Design and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures with exposure to legal counsel/documents, new teammate hiring and a wide range of vendors/consultants
  • Ability to both work and lead a room, instilling excitement, positivity and a clear path to success, leading teammates to new levels of performance and dedication
  • Experience in fundraising, e-commerce or SaaS-enabled marketplaces is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in the cannabis industry preferred
  • Excel in fast-paced start-ups, excited by a rapidly changing industry
