The Director of Operations, Health Analytics Practice will report to the Health Analytics Practice (HAP) Executive Leadership team. The HAP team needs a strategic player with an entrepreneurial mindset who can thrive in ambiguity. HAP falls under the umbrella of the firm's wider ISP (Industries & Special Practices) Community.
This position is based in Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, or Tampa.
This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong communication, leadership, organizational, strategic, and financial analysis skills who can:
- Work with HAP experts and senior staff to drive practice strategy, improved financial performance, and growth in revenue and profitability.
- Collaborate with BRG's Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A) team and HAP leadership to maintain and utilize rolling tracking and forecasting tools to drive financial performance at the practice/expert level, including efforts to achieve revenue, margins, utilization, leverage, and other goals based on key indicators. Collaborate with FP&A to monitor HAP financial performance and work with HAP experts to schedule periodic check-ins with financial performance updates.
- Act as a liaison between HAP leadership, the ISP community's Director of Operations, and critical corporate VPs responsible for expert performance review, cross-community staffing and utilization, compensation, and staff performance review and management.
- Lead strategic practice initiatives with guidance from HAP leadership, including staffing and utilization management, headcount forecasting, staff performance management, staff learning and development, and practice data management.
- Work with HAP leadership to maintain and track various business development budgets and requests for funding.
- Work with BRG Business Development professionals across the firm to develop, track, and coordinate BD opportunities, including job pitches, new case opportunities, and marketing events. Develop, support, and coordinate any cross-practice market facing initiatives.
- Continue to improve internal communication efforts by working with HAP leadership to describe the practice's progress and vision to success and growth to all practice members.
- Assist in other aspects of practice support as identified by HAP leadership, including preparing meeting agendas, presentations, and updates for the firm's leadership team and board.
- Participate in planning HAP-related activities at the firm's Managing Director summit and other HAP meetings.
- Manage other operational individuals, such as HAP operations managers and ISP operations coordinators.
Expert and Staff Management Liaison - For junior and senior HAP staff, coordinate with HAP leadership and HR for onboarding, utilization management, annual performance management, compensation and bill rate increase processes, and coordinate with the ISP community's Director of Operations to ensure appropriate level of consistency across the ISP community.
- Coordinate with HAP leadership and the ISP community's Director of Operations regarding staffing needs, utilization, and opportunities to cross-staff resources.
- Coordinate with the ISP community's campus and experienced staff recruiters to support talent pipeline, identify staffing needs, and determine the proper levels of recruiting team resources.
- Coordinate with VP of Expert Relations related to expert onboarding and performance management.
Qualifications The ideal candidate is a consultant or former consultant looking to move into a practice operations leadership role, who has a strategy, management, or finance background in a professional services firm. Strong problem-solving skills, an entrepreneurial frame of mind, and an ability to drive internal projects independently are all desired.
Specific skills and experience should include:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree, MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus
- Minimum of 10 years of prior work experience, preferably in a fast-paced consulting environment
- Ability to analyze financial information and build financial models for practice management initiatives (e.g., practice profitability, resource planning, compensation modeling, etc.)
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with ability to problem solve and think independently and outside-the-box. Excellent written and oral communication skills with a confident and clear communication style
- Aptitude to develop insights and recommendations to business problems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize changing work demands, and learn quickly
- Mature presence, empathy, and intellectual curiosity
- Demonstrate strong project management, time management, and organizational skills
- Handle sensitive information and preserve its confidentiality
- Strong understanding of managing relationships and developing solution-based proposals in a professional services environment
- Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel, primarily to offices with significant presence of HAP staff including Boston, Chicago, New York, Tampa, and Washington, DC
Salary Range: 175k - 250k per year
