The Director of Operations - Driver Management is responsible for fleet performance, driver experience, operational consistency, expense control, and the leadership of the Driver Management organization. This role ensures drivers are supported, teams are accountable, and operations execute consistently across all shifts, terminals, and fleets.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet PerformanceOwn operational results, including:
- On-time service and documentation
- Truck productivity and utilization
- Revenue per truck
- Driver retention and turnover
- Driver-related expense management
Leadership & Driver Management- Lead and develop Senior Driver Managers and Driver Managers.
- Set clear expectations and hold leaders accountable for results.
- Ensure consistent, proactive communication with drivers, including in our Social Media & Technology outlets.
- Build future leaders and strengthen organizational bench depth.
- Maintain visibility and engagement with staff and drivers.
Operational Consistency- Oversee Extended Coverage and off-hours execution.
- Ensure consistent service across teams, terminals, and shifts.
- Improve handoffs, communication, and execution quality.
- Resolve issues impacting driver experience or fleet performance.
Process Improvement & Accountability- Identify and eliminate root causes of recurring problems.
- Establish and enforce operational standards.
- Use data to drive decisions and performance improvements.
- Own operational misses and implement corrective actions.
Culture & People Development- Lead in alignment with company values, 12 Traditions, and Manager 360 expectations.
- Build trust, accountability, and teamwork.
- Address issues promptly and professionally.
- Develop and prepare future operational leaders.
Cross-Functional & Financial Leadership- Partner effectively with Sales, Safety, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Support customer commitments through strong operational execution.
- Manage budgets responsibly and improve cost efficiency.
- Balance productivity, service, driver experience, and profitability.

Requirements- Proven success in a leadership position within the transportation industry
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of AS400
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
This position is in office Monday-Friday and may be on-call occasionally.
