Job Description SummaryDepartment Summary The Director of Online Program Development serves as the operational leader responsible for executing OHIO Online's portfolio strategy in partnership with the Vice Provost for OHIO Online, academic colleges, and operational units. The Director supports the development of new online programs and strategic enhancements to existing offerings by providing market research, financial and enrollment analysis, project leadership, and expertise in online academic development.
This position expands Ohio University's capacity to identify, strategically develop, evaluate, and launch market-responsive academic programs that meet or exceed accreditation standards while providing colleges with the research, consultation, and project leadership needed to improve student access, support academic quality, and sustainably grow online enrollment.
Position Profile Oversees and implements University academic programming and policy approval process. Reviews and analyzes existing programs to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations. Administers and evaluates the effectiveness of program achievements. Coordinates curriculum development, faculty affairs, and accreditation processes. May oversee core program components, curricula and/or instruction.
Level Summary Leads significant programs or functions with a high level of strategic importance. Works as a technical leader to address highly challenging processes with broad and significant implications for the University. Collaborates closely with senior management to deliver impactful business results and long-term strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provides subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders. May have a limited number of direct reports.
Fiscal Responsibilities May manage budget in work area or multiple project budgets.
Problem Solving Resolves highly complex problems, often with no clear precedent.
Independence of Action Self-directed with minimal supervision and high decision-making autonomy.
Communication and Collaboration Leads major collaborations and represents the University at higher levels.
Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience conducting market research and competitive analysis to assess demand, differentiation, and opportunities for new or existing academic programs.
- Experience developing program pro formas, enrollment forecasts, and financial analyses to evaluate program feasibility, sustainability, and return on investment.
- Experience developing, launching, evaluating, or optimizing online, adult, graduate, or other market-responsive academic programs.
- Demonstrated ability to translate market and financial data into actionable recommendations and communicate findings effectively to academic and senior leaders.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and working collaboratively with faculty and academic leaders to move programs from concept through development, approval, and launch.

Pay Rate The target salary range is $68,299 to $92,205 commensurate with the selected candidate's education and experience while considering internal equity.
