Director of Nursing
Location: Edgewater Haven WR FT/PT: Full-time 40 hrs/week - WRS Eligible Deadline to apply: 6/30/2026 Hiring Range: $98,217.60 to $111,155.20/annually Job Responsibilities:

Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to ensure the nursing department complies with professional, state, and federal nursing home regulatory standards; and to hire, supervise, discipline, and schedule all nursing personnel. The work is performed under the direction of the Administrator - Edgewater Haven.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Maintains current knowledge of federal and state nursing home regulations to ensure facility compliance.
2. Ensures the facility maintains regulatory compliance with federal and state code. Utilizes the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) process to identify areas not meeting regulatory requirements and implements systematic changes for process improvement.
3. Supervises nursing personnel. Assigns duties and monitors quality of nursing care.
4. Maintains on-call status for the nursing department to provide clinical guidance and staff support.
5. Participates in continuing education. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to ensure the facility meets the clinical demands of increasing complexity in residents served. Researches and evaluates monthly periodicals, textbooks, and community resource personnel to determine clinical trends in nursing home care.
6. Assesses clinical competencies of staff. Utilizes clinical best practices to ensure the highest level of skill to meet demands of increased acuity. Actively researches changes in skilled nursing care practices. Communicates appropriately and effectively with licensed nursing staff regarding clinical skill development.
7. Reviews and analyzes medical information on potential residents. Determines if admission is appropriate based on nursing home services. Recommend alternate plans or approves admission in consultation with the Administrator.
8. In consultation with the Administrator, interviews, hires, evaluates, disciplines, and discharges all nursing personnel. Assigns orientation and duties.
9. Works with the Nursing Secretary to schedule nursing personnel, approves time off, and informs payroll of staffing changes.
10. Receives and reviews investigations of injuries, complaints, and conflicts completed per Human Services procedures. Analyzes situations and takes appropriate action. Documents actions taken.
11. Analyzes regulatory, medical, and nursing changes. Develop and updates policies and procedures. Notifies staff and directs staff training needs related to policy and procedure changes.
12. Responsible for the ongoing development, review, and maintenance of all nursing department policies and procedures. When updates to policies are made, communicate updates with respective staff.
13. Completes a variety of forms, reports, and correspondence to Division of Quality Assurance regarding care quality, billing, and staffing to comply with regulations.
14. Reviews medical records for care standards compliance, staffing levels, correctness, completeness, and care provided.
15. Determines efficiencies within the nursing department to ensure licensed staff are able to provide quality care to residents. Strives for staff to utilize the facility's electronic medical record system at its highest potential.
16. Observes and analyzes all aspects of nursing department activity.
17. Directs, assigns, and arranges nursing staff and interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate, train, revise, develop, problem solve, and implement care.
18. Proposes personnel policy changes and provides recommendations to the Administrator and Human Resources.
19. Submits proposed purchases and budget changes to administration. Prices and determines nursing supply purchases. Reviews billing invoices and approves payment.
20. Reviews nursing hours, costs, and overtime to ensure expenses remain within budget.
21. Reviews student applications and conducts interviews with students for educational sponsorship opportunities.
22. Oversees payroll for nursing staff. Clarifies questionable timecard entries. Approves sick pay, overtime, call in, premium pay, etc.
23. Organizes and analyzes data and metrics for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and works with the interdisciplinary team to develop Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as needed.
24. Works collaboratively with Norwood Health Center to increase efficiencies between Edgewater Haven and Norwood Health Center.
25. Demonstrates a strong commitment to developing positive rapport with all employees within the facility and the Human Services Department.
26. Attends Human Services All Staff and Departmental meetings.
27. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Performs all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.
28. Must be familiar with and exemplify the Wood County Core Values and serve with courtesy and respect in accordance with the Wood County Code of Conduct.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
While the following tasks are necessary to support unit operations, they are not considered essential functions of this position and may also be performed by other team members.

1. Assists with staffing coordination and contacts nursing staff to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
2. Performs RN duties and responsibilities as needed to support resident care and departmental operations.
3. Provides leadership, in-service education, and training to nursing staff in the absence of the In-Service Coordinator.
4. Oversees and participates in RN care planning processes and demonstrates understanding of the MDS process.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
