Position OverviewWe are searching for an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our team. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership attributes to provide clinical oversight and supervision to our nursing and care staff team members. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall functions of our nursing departments to ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided to our residents at all times.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and supervise the nursing department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.
- Interview, hire, supervise, evaluate, and counsel resident care staff, while establishing appropriate time schedules and conducting regular staff meetings and in-services.
- Establishes time schedules (or delegates this responsibility to a capable staff member) for resident care staff on each shift and in accordance with budget; assures prompt, appropriate action in cases of injury, illness, fire or other emergencies.
- Performs assessment (or delegates this responsibility to a capable staff member) in coordination with Administrator and marketing staff members on each resident prior to admission to determine if prospective resident's care needs can be appropriately met by the facility.
- Assure prompt, appropriate action in emergencies and keep physicians and family members fully apprised of changes in a resident's condition, including holding consistent care conferences.
Qualifications- Prior professional nursing experience
- Strong leadership attributes with the ability to provide clinical oversight and supervision to nursing and care staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare standards and regulations.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and emergency-response skills.
