Full Job Description
Director of Nursing Salaried: $110,000-$120,000 plus $10,000 Sign-on-Bonus

Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility is looking to add a Director of Nursing (DON) to its leadership team. In this role, you'll oversee all nursing operations, clinical services, staffing, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance to ensure the highest level of resident care. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and oversee all nursing department operations, clinical services, and nursing staff to ensure high-quality resident care
  • Supervise Assistant Directors of Nursing, nurse managers, supervisors, licensed nurses, and nursing support staff
  • Develop and maintain staffing plans and on-call schedules to ensure appropriate nursing coverage
  • Coordinate nursing services with therapy, dietary, pharmacy, activities, social services, physicians, and other interdisciplinary departments
  • Provide oversight of Medical Records and Staffing Coordinator functions
  • Lead infection prevention, antibiotic stewardship, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, state, federal, and local regulations governing long-term care
  • Participate in surveys, audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting, including NYS Department of Health requirements
  • Oversee incident investigations, resident safety concerns, medication-related issues, and corrective action plans
  • Manage nursing recruitment, orientation, education, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development
  • Support resident admissions, care planning, MDS processes, documentation compliance, and pharmaceutical services
  • Monitor quality metrics and lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
  • Serve as a member of the facility leadership team and assume administrative responsibilities as needed


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; Master's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum experience requirement: 2 years of experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing; 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing preferred
  • Valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License required
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, survey processes, Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement requirements
  • Experience with staffing management, clinical operations, infection prevention, and quality improvement programs
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, clinical software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with residents, families, providers, regulatory agencies, and interdisciplinary teams
