Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a strategic and compassionate Director of Nursing (RN) to oversee multiple patient care departments and lead high-performing clinical teams focused on exceptional patient outcomes.

As a key nursing leader, you will drive operational excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, employee engagement, physician collaboration, and financial stewardship while advancing Mercy's mission of delivering compassionate care.

What You'll Do
Nursing Leadership & Operations
  • Direct multiple nursing and patient care departments.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Lead evidence-based nursing practice and shared governance initiatives.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing, retention, and employee engagement.
  • Mentor and develop nurse managers and clinical leaders.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Drive patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA, and state regulations.
  • Lead accreditation, quality improvement, and patient experience initiatives.
  • Promote safe, effective, and patient-centered care delivery.
Financial & Strategic Leadership
  • Manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor productivity, labor management, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance metrics.
  • Develop business plans to support new programs and service growth.
Physician & Community Partnerships
  • Build strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate on patient care delivery and service line development.
  • Represent Mercy within community and professional organizations.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Master's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field, or commitment to obtain
  • Two or more years of Nurse Manager experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Proven experience in nursing operations, quality improvement, staff development, and budget management
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Preferred
  • Nationally recognized nursing certification
  • Progressive leadership experience overseeing multiple clinical departments
  • Experience leading hospital-based nursing teams within a complex healthcare environment
