Full Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is responsible for overseeing and
managing all direct clinical operations of the health center. The Director provides supervision to teams and individuals to ensure
optimal patient care that is consistent with vision and mission of the Health Center.

Responsibilities include:
• Oversee nursing scope of practice and the overall quality of nursing care.
• Oversee daily operations for all direct clinical services
• Develop and mature the department management infrastructure to ensure comprehensive operational oversight of al direct
clinical departments.
• `Collaborate with the CMO to ensure consistent performance to the established standard of care by implementing and
monitoring clinical workflows and processes.
• Collaborate with the CMO to develop and implement clinical workflows that promote excellent performance in quality
measurements and consistently safe care
• Collaborate with the senior team to develop and execute strategic goals and priority performance improvement projects.
• Collaborates closely with QA/QI/PI, Corporate Compliance & Risk Manager to plan, implement, evaluation, and manage QI
and PI projects over short and long cycle endeavors.
• Promote and ensure best practices in clinical and consumer services are followed across CHC sites
• Evaluate and maintain staffing patterns to ensure maximum efficiency
• Responsible for training and orientation of all clinical, non-provider personnel.
• Counsels clinical staff on personnel issues such as career development, work problems or interpersonal conflicts.
• Ensures that medical encounters are completed and ready for billing in a timely fashion
• Establishes priorities in conjunction with CMO regarding the availability of funds to meet Health Center's needs.
• Monitors and controls expenses and revenues in relation to the budget.
• Promotes professional development by design and implementation of staff trainings and in-service programs.
• Develops and implements system for evaluating clinical competencies for the Nursing and Medical Assisting staff
• Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission
• Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards
• Performs other related duties as needed and as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years experience of clinical experience and 3 years progressive managerial experience is required.
• Preferred experience within a primary healthcare ambulatory care setting.
• Previous experience in performance improvement, developing and implementing new models of care, leading transformational
change, and clinical operations.
Educational Requirements:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing and BSN required; MS preferred.
Professional Licensure and Certification Required:
• Licensed as an R.N. by the MA Board of Registration.
• BLS required.
• Computer skills for accurate data entry
• Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment
Supervision Exercised:
Responsible for the direct supervision of all non-provider clinical personnel in the medical department.
Environmental Working Conditions:
The environment is a normal office environment of a busy Community Health Center.
Physical Requirements:
The physical and mental demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential
duties of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Normal visual acuity and standard clerical dexterity to operate
computers, printers, photocopiers, and fax machines; moderate walking, standing, reaching, and stooping in order to accomplish
everyday office tasks required. The ability to travel to local community meetings and the all Health Centers. Ability to attend periodic
meetings with Nurse Leaders at the Mass League.
