Job Summary: The Director of Network Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for the district's technology infrastructure, network operations, cybersecurity, telecommunications systems, and related support services. The position is responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and effective technology services that support teaching, learning, business operations, and district-wide communication.

The Director develops and implements long-range technology strategies, manages operational resources, oversees technology infrastructure investments, and leads a team of technical professionals to ensure high-quality service delivery. The position works collaboratively with district leadership, schools, and departments to align technology resources with organizational priorities and educational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Provide leadership and direction for the district's network operations, telecommunications systems, infrastructure services, and related technology functions.
  • Ensure technology systems and services are reliable, secure, and responsive to the needs of students, staff, and district operations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that support the district's long-term technology vision and operational goals.
  • Lead cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning efforts to protect district information and technology resources.
  • Establish and maintain technology standards, operational procedures, and best practices that promote consistency, efficiency, and security.
  • Oversee technology infrastructure projects, ensuring successful implementation, budget management, and alignment with district priorities.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and resources to maximize operational effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and operational needs to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with district leadership to support organizational initiatives and provide technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and business operations.
  • Oversee the district's Managed Document Services program and Copy Center operations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for district leadership regarding technology operations, priorities, and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of organizational leadership, strategic planning, and operational management principles.
  • Understanding of technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and information systems within a large organization.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, industry standards, and district policies related to technology operations and data security.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. A typical background would include a bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, or a related field, along with progressively responsible leadership experience in technology operations, infrastructure management, or related areas.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading technology operations within a large public-sector or educational organization.
  • Experience managing cybersecurity, infrastructure, telecommunications, or enterprise technology services.
  • Relevant professional certifications in technology leadership, cybersecurity, project management, or related fields are desirable.

Other Requirements
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
