Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Membership is a hybrid position out of Growth Energy's office in Sioux Falls, SD. This role is responsible for supporting the SVP of Development in developing and executing strategies that drive membership growth, retention, engagement, and revenue for the association. The Director of Membership will be a leader for member recruitment and relationship management and will also ensure members receive exceptional value from the organization and remain actively engaged in the association's programs, services, and events.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
  • Develop and implement annual membership recruitment strategies and goals; Identify, cultivate, and convert prospective ethanol plant and industry associate members; Build strong relationships with existing members and key stakeholders, including Board members; Conduct regular outreach to understand member needs, priorities, and satisfaction levels; Serve as the lead staff representing the organization at industry events, including trade shows and conferences; Secure sponsorship sales for the organization's key annual events.


SECONDARY DUTIES:
  • Support Finance Department in ensuring member invoices are paid on time; Support in managing maintenance of membership
    CRM platform, ensuring member information is accurate and updated on a regular basis; Assist in recruiting member participants for DC or state-based fly-ins and public affairs engagement around key issues; Other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry-related news; Strong oral communications skills and ability to present to new audiences; Understanding of ethanol production process; Familiarity with relevant policy issues and political dynamics; Must maintain confidentiality when presented with sensitive information.

  • Ability to communicate with diverse industry audiences, including management, directors, employees
    and suppliers; Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; Strong attention to detail.
  • Industrious and self-motivated, able to work well independently and as part of team in pursuit of a common goal; Display good judgement and ethical decision-making at all times; Demonstrate an overall understanding of the organization's business and strategic plan.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Seven or more years of experience in business, sales, marketing, or a related field; Demonstrated success in sales and project management; Knowledge of biofuel industry or proven ability to learn industries quickly


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The fast-paced nature of this position for Growth Energy requires a consistent office presence in Sioux Falls, SD. When not traveling, Sioux Falls employees have a hybrid schedule, working Monday through Thursday in-office, and Friday remotely (unless business needs require work take place in the office). Employees are generally expected to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Employees may also need to work varied extended hours as projects demand and during organization events which can include nights and weekends, as business needs dictate.

TRAVEL:

A large amount of domestic travel is required (50% or more).
Travel by air and ground transportation, including overnight and multi-day trips, are required to attend client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
