SUMMARYThe Director of Medical Services works with the medical services team and the mental health team to optimize operations and integrated more effectively into other program areas, to increase impact and improve care. This position will establish practices of integrated care across a multidisciplinary team. In addition, it will provide a small amount of direct psychiatric support to participants to ensure the best practice in a co-occurring disorder setting.
The Director of Medical Services will directly oversee the medical services team within Recovery. They will focus on supporting ongoing operational optimization of those services, as well as streamlining care within Recovery services between medical, mental health and clinical services. The position will work with the mental health clinical with optimizing staff impact and integrating within RS Eden program.

Salary ranges from $150,000-$170,000 per yearRESPONSIBILITES- Supporting optimization and integration of medical and mental health services, including:
- Medical services supporting and communicating seamlessly with clinical programming
- Optimization of medical services within the Recovery programming
- Supporting processes and practices for multidisciplinary work within Recovery programs
- Building out screening for participants with complex mental health and medical needs through the admission process
- Working with the clinical team to incorporate the medical and mental health aspects of treatment in the scope of programming
- Direct participant care in the following areas:
- Psychiatric evaluations for participants with complex mental health or MAT/MOUD needs
- Medication management with a small caseload of high needs participants
- Attending the clinical team meetings as needed to inform the team on concerns or progress with participants that are being seen and treated
- Supporting the care coordination process for those in programming
- Implementing condition-specific protocols alongside Nurse Manager
- Works closely with the Medical Director to ensure high-quality service delivery within 245F and 245G programs
- Directly supervising the Nurse Manager and Nurse Practitioners. Indirectly providing leadership and support to the Director of Mental Health and the Mental Health team
- Assessing need for increased licensure of mental health clinic to become a 245I clinic. Providing Clinical Supervision for mental health team in accordance with 245I licensure as needed
- Increasing impact of mental health team by working with mental health leadership to increase referrals, scheduling process, and streamlining operations
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service training, outside training events, and additional training as necessary and appropriate to maintain growth and development for self and team
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and prioritize appropriately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and other disciplines, patients, family members, and external agencies.
- Experience in both substance use disorder and mental health settings
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Skilled in problem-solving techniques and solution oriented.
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodology.
- Skilled as a change agent.
- Ability to be flexible and tolerant in ambiguous situations.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Minnesota, with psychiatric training Unrestricted.
- Experience in providing participant care in active withdrawal and early recovery
- Ability to effectively prescribe and manage medications for complex mental health needs
- Experience with participants with co-occurring substance use and mental health symptoms
- Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds with complex barriers to success.
- Ability to act as a positive and supportive presence for participants and staff, even under stressful circumstances with a highly professional and compassionate approach and a commitment to person-centered care.
- Demonstrates at the time of employment and every two years thereafter, competency in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- 6-month requirement between any treatment services and employment.
