The Mediation Unit sits within the Health Care Division and consists of mediators and a Director of Mediation. The Mediation Unit receives thousands of complaints every year about health care providers, insurance companies, and other entities in the health care sector. Mediators engage directly with certain complainants and the subjects of complaints to provide information, make referrals, and seek to resolve complaints through an informal mediation process.
Primary Duties: The Director of Mediation will mediate complaints and help manage the activities of the mediation unit, including assisting mediators, managing mediation workflows, responding to constituent inquiries, and assisting the Division Chief in performance planning for those in the Mediation Unit. The Director will also work closely with the Division's Chief and Deputy Chief on Mediation Unit operations, including policies, procedures, training materials, templates, and reporting relating to consumer complaint data.
The Director of Mediation will have an opportunity to work with other AGO Divisions and government agencies and participate in community engagement.
Position Requirements:
- At least seven (7) years of health law, consumer law, mediation, community engagement, consumer complaint handling, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous experience in health care is desired but not required.
- Excellent writing, analysis, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage workflows, and structure, analyze, and report out data.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex legal, business, and financial concepts.
- Ability to collaborate and represent the Office with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and work with a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to the public interest.

Please Note: Our hybrid model includes some telework days for most positions.
Position Type: Full-time/Exempt
Salary: $96,000-106,000
