Director of Mechanical Engineering

Job Summary: Our office in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. Our Mechanical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building-related projects including multifamily, higher educational facilities, large commercial projects, retail and local government projects using Revit.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and provide guidance to a team of engineers
  • Develop mechanical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of market types
  • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
  • Write and edit project specifications
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Perform code compliance research
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Provide construction administration services
  • Perform QA/QC of design work
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients
  • Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Drafting
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design
  • PE License (preferred)
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Hands-on experience with the latest versions of AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Office, and engineering calculation and performance simulation software
  • Team management experience (preferred)
