Full Job Description
Director of Marketing Build the brand. Fuel the pipeline. Make it stick. Reports To: CRO Location: Remote in the USA Travel: Less than 20% Position Overview Sperber Companies is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead marketing and demand generation for Sperber and its team of operating companies. This is a hands-on, Director-level role with real ownership and real room to build. The Director of Marketing owns four core outcomes: demand generation that fills the sales pipeline through organic, content-driven channels; a credible brand for both the Sperber holding company and each operating company; digital marketing that's continuously tested and optimized; and marketing support that directly drives revenue. The role also supports internal communications (the tools, templates, and messaging that keep field and corporate teams aligned and equipped) and gets to see its fingerprints on the business fast, partnering closely with account teams, operations, and executive leadership across every location. Key Responsibilities • Demand Generation: Own the annual demand generation strategy, growing pipeline through multiple channel initiatives: SEO and website content, case studies and testimonials, a structured review-generation program, and industry visibility (associations, trade events, PR). Back this with the CRM (HubSpot) campaign support and a light, targeted paid presence where it earns its keep. Partner with Business Development, Account Managers, and Operations to align pipeline with sales targets, and report results to leadership. • Branding: Own brand strategy and visual identity for both the Sperber holding company and each operating company, and lead brand integration for new acquisitions so every business joins the team with a clear identity. Direct website content, structure, and SEO, and keep positioning sharp against market and competitive trends. • Digital Optimization: Own and continuously improve performance across the website, SEO, organic social, and email, including how Sperber and its operating companies show up in AI-driven search and answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), not just traditional search results. Manage local search presence (Google Business Profile) for each operating company location. • Revenue Generation Support: Maintain and enhance the sales enablement toolkit (proposal templates, master sales presentations, case studies, and pitch materials) and own trade show, event, and field marketing collateral, training Business Developers to use it all well. Support pricing and promotional programs, plus internal communications that reinforce sales and field performance, such as President's Club materials, Townhall support, and company-wide announcements, with simple, repeatable templates so operating companies and field teams can execute consistently. • Team & Vendor Leadership: Direct outside agencies and vendors to extend capacity, holding them to clear briefs, timelines, and ROI. Manage the marketing budget across corporate and the growing team of operating companies, allocating spend to the highest-return activity. Qualifications • 7-10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including multiple years in a Director-level or senior marketing leadership role. • Experience in a multi-location, B2B, service-based business strongly preferred (landscaping, facilities services, construction, home services, or similar services). • A demonstrated track record building demand generation programs that produce measurable sales pipeline, not just brand awareness, with a bias toward organic, content, and review-driven growth marketing. • Hands-on experience with HubSpot or a comparable CRM platform. • Experience managing brand consistency across multiple business units, locations, or a multi-brand portfolio, and building sales enablement materials with sales leadership. • Digital marketing fluency across SEO, organic social, website/CMS, and local search; paid media experience is a plus, not the core of this role. • Awareness of how AI search and answer engines are reshaping organic visibility, and how to build content that earns authority in both. • Comfortable operating as a lean team, directing agencies and contractors to extend capacity. • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the executive presence to work directly with the CRO, Executive Leadership team, and field leadership. • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; MBA a plus but not required.
