MEB is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing & Communications to lead the company's Marketing & Communications and Pursuit Support functions.

This role is responsible for helping ensure MEB presents a consistent, professional, and compelling message across proposals, qualifications packages, interviews, digital platforms, internal communications, and public-facing materials. The Director will work closely with executive leadership, operations, preconstruction, and business development teams to support company growth, strengthen brand awareness, and improve the effectiveness of pursuit efforts across the organization. This is a leadership role focused on strategy, team development, planning, and oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Marketing & Communications and Pursuit Support functions.
  • Develop department goals, priorities, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Establish processes and standards that improve efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Ensure alignment between marketing, communications, pursuit support, operations, preconstruction, and executive leadership.
  • Develop short and long-term marketing and communications plans that support company objectives.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop marketing, communications, and proposal professionals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support professional development and long-term growth within the team.
  • Provide guidance and direction while empowering team members to manage day-to-day responsibilities.

Pursuit Support & Proposal Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight of proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, interviews, and other pursuit-related deliverables.
  • Collaborate with operations, preconstruction, estimating, and business development teams to support pursuit strategies.
  • Ensure pursuit messaging clearly communicates MEB's experience, capabilities, and differentiators.
  • Improve processes and standards that drive consistency and quality across pursuit efforts.
  • Track pursuit performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Marketing & Brand Management

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen brand awareness, market presence, and company visibility.
  • Oversee development of marketing collateral, project profiles, digital content, photography, videography, and promotional campaigns.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, branding, and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Provide strategic oversight of website content, social media, and other marketing initiatives.

Communications & Public Relations

  • Lead internal and external communications efforts that support company goals.
  • Provide direction for executive communications, company announcements, and key messaging initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement through effective internal communication strategies.
  • Oversee public relations efforts, industry recognition programs, community involvement, and crisis communication planning.

Executive Collaboration & Strategic Planning

  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning efforts through market analysis, communication planning, and brand positioning.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitive activity.
  • Represent MEB at industry events, professional organizations, and community functions as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, proposal management, pursuit support, or related functions within the construction, engineering, or AEC industry.
  • Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience managing marketing, communications, proposal, pursuit, or related teams.
  • Strong understanding of AEC industry pursuits, proposals, qualifications packages, marketing, communications, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience developing department strategy, budgets, staffing plans, and performance metrics.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications through SMPS, APMP, or similar organizations.
  • Experience supporting heavy civil, water/wastewater, industrial, federal, or design-build construction projects.
  • Experience supporting regional or multi-office operations.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems, marketing analytics, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Experience leading corporate branding or organizational positioning initiatives.
  • Established professional network within the construction or AEC industry.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based and works closely with executive leadership, operations, preconstruction, business development, and project teams. Occasional travel may be required for project visits, industry events, conferences, client presentations, and company functions.
