Director of Logistics & Materials OperationsRole OverviewLyten is seeking a Director of Logistics & Materials Operations to own and scale end-to-end logistics, inventory, and materials movement across Baytech and supporting domestic and international sites. This role is responsible for building a resilient, compliant, and scalable logistics organization capable of supporting advanced battery materials and 3D graphene manufacturing, including Dangerous Goods (DG) handling, import/export, and equipment moves.
The Director will lead logistics strategy across R&D, pilot, and manufacturing operations, and contract manufacturing sites - ensuring materials availability, cost control, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity during rapid scale-up.
Key Responsibilities Logistics & Materials Strategy - Define and execute Lyten's logistics and materials strategy supporting battery materials, graphene, and future products.
- Own site-to-site and external logistics flows across Baytech, San Leandro, Osgood, and external partners.
- Build scalable logistics processes that support pilot 12 production transitions.
Shipping, Receiving & Dangerous Goods - Own all domestic and international shipping, including DG/Classified Materials.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, OSHA, and local regulations.
- Establish approved carrier networks, contingency plans, and escalation paths to eliminate single points of failure.
Inventory, Warehousing & Systems - Own inventory accuracy, traceability, and control, including cycle counts and reconciliation.
- Lead implementation and optimization of ERP, WMS, and TMS tools to enable visibility and scalability.
- Define standards for warehouse layout, material handling, storage, and fire safety.
Import / Export & Trade Compliance - Oversee import/export operations, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Ensure compliance with customs, export controls, NDA/ITAR/EAR requirements where applicable.
- Evaluate and optimize 3PL and trade service providers.
Operations Enablement & Scale-
Up - Partner closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, Facilities, and Finance.
- Support major initiatives including equipment relocation, facility expansions, and production launches.
- Own materials readiness for 24/7 operations and critical manufacturing paths.
Cost, Risk & Performance Management - Own logistics cost structure, budgeting, and continuous cost reduction.
- Define and track KPIs across on-time delivery, inventory turns, logistics spend, and service levels.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Team Leadership - Lead and develop logistics, inventory, and material handling organization.
- Establish clear roles, operating cadence, and performance expectations.
- Build bench strength and succession capability as Lyten scales.
Required Qualifications - BS degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related field AND 11+ years of experience in logistics, materials, or supply chain operations in manufacturing environments OR master's degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related field AND 9 + years of experience in logistics, materials, or supply chain operations in manufacturing environments OR equivalent experience
- Proven ownership of multi-site logistics operations in a fast-scaling or complex environment.
- Inventory and warehouse operations
- Import/export and trade compliance
- ERP-based logistics workflows
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally at the Director / VP interface.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting battery, chemical, semiconductor, or advanced materials manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience scaling logistics from R&D / pilot to production.
- Experience selecting and implementing WMS/TMS systems.
- Prior responsibility for equipment moves, facility expansions, or greenfield operations.
- International logistics experience (US 12 Europe/Asia).

Compensations Range: The expected base salary range for this position is between
$155,200.00 - $232,800.00
The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
