Full Job Description
Position Summary:Concentric is seeking a highly technical, investment-fluent Director of Investment Technology to oversee the modernization, development, and operational scaling of Concentric's investment technology platform. This leader will be responsible for the engineering team, database management, workflow automation, and the evolution of Concentric's proprietary codebase supporting model management, portfolio optimization, trading, reconciliation, reporting, and investment operations. This role will require a hands-on technology leader with experience in quantitative investment management, systematic portfolio implementation, data engineering, and mission-critical investment systems. The ideal candidate will have worked in or closely supported a quantitative investment management firm, systematic asset manager, hedge fund, direct indexing platform, or similarly sophisticated investment technology environment where code, data, models, trading, and operations are tightly integrated.

The mandate is to build a durable, institutional-grade technology foundation that allows Concentric to scale with AUM growth, account growth, strategy complexity, and broader Pathstone adoption while reducing manual processes, human inputs, spreadsheet dependency, and key-person risk. The role will prioritize engineering discipline, database architecture, workflow automation, code quality, system reliability, throughput, controls, and operational leverage across the full investment lifecycle-from model ingestion and portfolio construction through order generation, trade execution, reconciliation, exception management, and post-trade analytics. Client-facing tools and user experience remain relevant, but this position is first and foremost a technology, engineering, and investment-systems leadership role focused on scaling the investment engine behind Concentric's customized portfolio solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure, Automation & Scale
  • Lead the modernization of Concentric's automated trading, optimization, and portfolio implementation infrastructure to support materially greater account volume, strategy breadth, and trade execution.
  • Partner closely with Concentric's investment, trading, operations, and Pathstone technology stakeholders to translate investment workflows into scalable engineering requirements, automated production processes, maintainable code, and AI-enabled workflow enhancements where appropriate.
  • Design systems that improve speed, reliability, auditability, and control across frequent rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, factor tilts, manager replication, and customized account-level restrictions.
  • Support the technology enablement of new and existing investment capabilities, including active tax indexing, factor tilts, purpose-driven portfolios, active manager replication, fixed income integration, sleeving, and other customized solutions.

Technology Organization, Investment Data Architecture, Controls & Analytics
  • Reduce key-person dependency by documenting critical code, databases, workflows, data dependencies, production jobs, release processes, and operating procedures across Concentric's technology stack.
  • Establish disciplined DevOps, infrastructure, security, compliance, QA, regression testing, and release-management practices appropriate for investment systems.
  • Own the investment data architecture across Concentric, including market data, benchmark data, model data, account restrictions, holdings, tax lots, trades, performance, and custodial data.

OMS/EMS, Portfolio Systems & Third-Party Integrations
  • Partner with investment operations and investment leaders to integrate critical vendors into workflows and technology stack, including portfolio accounting, OMS/EMS, market-data providers, custodians, optimization tools, Advent, Salesforce, and related workflow platforms.
  • In this role, you will need deep experience with technology used in quantitative investment management and trading environments including APX, Bloomberg, InvestTools, Salesforce, FixFlyer, Python, C#, SQL, .NET, and APIs.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in investment technology, quantitative investment management technology, systematic trading systems, asset-management engineering, financial data platforms, or a similarly complex financial technology environment.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing proprietary codebases, databases, automated workflows, trading infrastructure, portfolio-management systems, or other mission-critical investment technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative portfolio construction, optimization, rebalancing, tax-aware investing, trading workflows, market data, portfolio accounting, and investment operations.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and managing production databases, including accountability for code quality, data quality, system uptime, documentation, change management, and technical delivery.
  • Experience working directly with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, traders, investment operations, compliance, and technology teams to translate investment requirements into scalable systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in software engineering, database architecture, data pipelines, APIs, automated workflows, cloud infrastructure, release management, testing, monitoring, and controls required for high-volume, high-precision investment environments.
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, integrating, or replacing OMS/EMS, portfolio accounting, optimization, market-data, reconciliation, and reporting platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, operational discipline, risk awareness, and quality standards appropriate for systems that directly influence client portfolios and trading outcomes.
  • Strong technical leader and communicator who can build credibility with engineers, database professionals, quantitative investment teams, traders, operations leaders, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Ability to set a pragmatic technology roadmap, prioritize infrastructure and codebase modernization, manage engineering execution, improve data governance, and drive organizational change in a growing investment platform.
  • Experience evaluating and applying AI technologies, workflow automation tools, intelligent agents, or machine-learning-enabled processes to improve engineering productivity, data integrity, exception management, documentation, and scalable investment operations.
  • Experience operating effectively in a private equity supported, high-growth, or transformation-oriented organization is preferred.

Our talented people are our greatest asset and therefore we offer a competitive, and flexible benefits program that helps meet the needs of our team members and their families. Concentric Innovation's generous benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, flexible spending, flexible PTO, life insurance, education support, 401k plan, parental leave, and more.
