Summary of Position:The Director of Interconnection Strategy leads interconnection strategy for a growing portfolio of generation and energy storage assets across North American ISOs and RTOs. This is not simply an interconnection project management role: the successful candidate develops commercial strategies that maximize project value by identifying optimal points of interconnection, minimizing upgrade costs, evaluating transmission constraints, managing queue positions, and advising investment and development teams on project viability. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, market analytics, transmission planning, project development, and commercial strategy.
Qualifications & Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in transmission planning, generator interconnection, ISO/RTO operations, or power market consulting.
- Direct experience with one or more North American ISOs or RTOs.
- Strong understanding of FERC interconnection procedures, transmission planning, Generator Interconnection Agreements, network upgrades, and power system studies.
- Preferred: Experience with renewable generation, battery storage, or combined-cycle development.
- Preferred: Familiarity with PSS4E, PSLF, PowerWorld, or equivalent planning software.
- Preferred: Experience supporting project finance or energy infrastructure M&A.
- Preferred: Knowledge of congestion modeling and nodal market economics.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities: - Develops interconnection strategies for utility-scale generation, battery storage, and hybrid resource projects across North American ISOs and RTOs.
- Identifies and compares multiple Points of Interconnection based on network upgrade exposure, commercial operation timeline, deliverability, congestion risk, curtailment exposure, and future transmission expansion.
- Recommends optimal queue entry timing and project sequencing, and develops contingency strategies for restudies, queue withdrawals, and transmission constraints.
- Manages a portfolio of interconnection requests across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE, tracking cluster study progress and regulatory changes.
- Monitors competing projects, evaluates withdrawal opportunities, and identifies acquisition opportunities for existing queue positions where commercially advantageous.
- Maintains portfolio-level visibility into upgrade costs, milestones, and execution risks.
- Partners with market analytics and commercial teams to evaluate congestion forecasts, basis risk, deliverability, transmission constraints, locational pricing, and resource adequacy implications, translating technical results into actionable commercial recommendations.
- Reviews and interprets power flow, short circuit, stability, deliverability, and facilities studies, challenging study assumptions where appropriate to identify opportunities to reduce network upgrade costs.
- Performs interconnection due diligence on acquisitions and prepares investment committee materials quantifying schedule and cost risks.
- Supports project financing and negotiates Generator Interconnection Agreements.
- Advises executives on transmission-related investment decisions.
- Serves as the Company's internal subject matter expert on transmission and interconnection, coordinating activities among Development, Engineering, Commercial, Market Analytics, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, external consultants, ISO/RTO staff, and Transmission Owners.
