Position Description: Tenna is seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Director of Information Technology to lead and scale our IT function as we continue to grow. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, this leader will own the vision, strategy, and day-to-day execution of Tenna's technology environment, from infrastructure and identity management to company-wide cybersecurity and compliance. This is a true player-coach role: you'll set the direction for IT, build and mentor a high-performing team, and manage the department's budget, while also rolling up your sleeves as the go-to technical expert across Microsoft, Windows, Linux, and cloud environments. You'll partner closely with Executive Leadership, the CIO, and the CTO to keep our largely remote workforce secure, connected, and productive, and to ensure our systems can scale with the business. Responsibilities- Lead all IT operations for a largely remote organization, providing strategic direction while serving as the senior hands-on technical practitioner and escalation point
- Configure, operate, and maintain Tenna's network and server systems, ensuring continuous availability, security, and consistency across all IT resources
- Manage and configure Active Directory, including security groups, domain group policies, Windows update auditing, and feature build deployments
- Administer Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Connect, and SSO integrations, including creation and lifecycle management of user accounts and access
- Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environments end-to-end, including build, configuration, security hardening, and patch management
- Oversee Windows Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments and administer Office 365 backup and restoration processes
- Support and enable a remote workforce, ensuring secure, reliable access to systems, devices, and applications from any location
- Oversee IT security across the entire company, including Azure Conditional Access policies, Windows hardening standards, and Linux security controls
- Maintain and patch Splunk SIEM infrastructure; monitor and act on security event data
- Audit and enforce security configurations across AWS VPC and EC2 environments
- Own corporate cyber insurance compliance obligations and lead the annual renewal process
- Develop, deliver, and continuously improve the corporate Security Awareness and Training Program
- Enforce Technology Security Policy across the organization; develop and maintain the Corporate Technology Retention Policy and Disaster Recovery Policy
- Coordinate and manage Corporate Technology Penetration Testing engagements and partner with the CTO on all regulatory compliance requirements (i.e. SOC)
- Own and manage the full IT department budget, including all hardware, software, licenses, and SaaS procurement, with full budget authority
- Conduct software and SaaS licensing cost audits, manage cellular corporate accounts, and maintain ongoing license and vendor tracking
- Manage physical network hardware, infrastructure, and the corporate building access system
- Oversee all hiring, performance management, and mentoring of IT team members, including Systems Administrators and Interns
- Partner with Executive Leadership and the CIO to ensure consistent adherence to Tenna's IT policies and strategic technology direction
Requirements- 12+ years of progressive Information Technology experience with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility
- Proven experience managing people and leading technical teams, including hiring, performance management, and development
- Proven experience managing an entire IT department with full budget authority
- Proven experience overseeing IT security across an entire company
- Demonstrated experience supporting a remote workforce
- 10+ years of Windows Server administration, including hands-on experience managing and configuring Active Directory
- Expert-level knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem is required, including Office 365, Azure AD, and Azure AD Connect; candidates with Google Workspace-only experience will not be considered
- 10+ years of Linux server administration with the ability to handle all aspects independently (Red Hat Enterprise Linux strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (VPC, EC2, S3, Route 53) is required; expert-level experience is not necessary
- Solid understanding of VPN infrastructure, enterprise networking, and routing protocols
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and iOS operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
- Ability to report on-site to our New Hope, PA office 1-2 times per week
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent Information Technology work experience is required.
