The Opportunity:The Director of IT is responsible for owning, operating, and continuously improving the company's core technology environment, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical judgment, independence, and initiative. The Director of IT will personally drive execution while building the foundation for a more mature IT organization over time. This role partners closely with business, Data, and AI leadership and requires strong judgment, initiative, and accountability for technical decisions.
Your Impact:
- Ensure the reliability, security, and resilience of all core systems, infrastructure, and data supporting daily business operations
- Own enterprise applications, including (but not limited to) ERP, CRM, data platforms, and productivity tools, ensuring they effectively support business workflows
- Lead enterprise cybersecurity, risk management, incident response, and business continuity, including disaster recovery
- Translate evolving business priorities into practical IT solutions and execution plans
- In partnership with Data and AI leadership, enable the use of technology, data, and automation to improve efficiency and scalability
- Serve as a hands-on technical leader, directly contributing to system design, troubleshooting, and implementation as needed
- Manage and develop internal IT staff and external vendors, setting clear priorities, expectations, and accountability
- Own IT financial management, vendor relationships, and governance to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and value-driven decisions
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, clearly communicating risks, tradeoffs, and progress in plain language
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
- Experience leading and operating enterprise IT functions or systems
- Prior accountability for technology environments supporting core business operations
- Experience managing and developing small teams and/or external service providers
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a hands-on leadership role
- Proven experience operating mission-critical enterprise technology environments with strong standards for reliability and security
- Hands-on experience with enterprise systems and platforms, not solely oversight or strategy
- Strong systems and architectural thinking, including sound judgment around build-vs-buy decisions
- Demonstrated ability to partner with business teams to support analytics, automation, and process improvement initiatives
- Experience leading and executing cross-functional technology initiatives with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to operate independently, seek external expertise when needed, and make sound technical decisions without day-to-day technical oversight
- Competence with project management, inclusive of internal and external team members
- Strong vendor, financial, and governance acumen, balancing agility with discipline and risk management

- Technology environment: This role operates within a modern enterprise technology environment. Experience with similar platforms and systems is strongly preferred.
- Enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms (currently Microsoft M365, including Power Platform and Copilot)
- ERP platforms supporting manufacturing and distribution operations (currently Prophet21 by Epicor)
- CRM platforms (currently Dynamics 365)
- Relational database platforms and data management tools (currently SQL Server and SSMS)
- Cloud infrastructure and platform services (currently Microsoft Azure)
- Enterprise networking and security technologies (currently Fortinet firewalls, Ubiquiti switches and access points)
- IT service management and ticketing platforms (currently Jira)
