Full Job Description
Outright currently seeks a Director of Individual Giving who will lead and grow the organization's individual giving program at a pivotal moment in its development. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will take ownership of day-to-day individual giving operations, manage key external and internal partnerships, and bring the strategic focus and operational discipline needed to scale revenue, deepen donor relationships through lead generation and acquisition, retention, stewardship, and upgrade, and support the Outright to pursue its most ambitious fundraising goals. While a New York City-based candidate is strongly preferred, applicants located elsewhere in the United States are welcome to apply. Salary is set by location to ensure equity; the range for the New York City metro area is $130,000-$145,000. Candidates based elsewhere in the U.S. are welcome to apply; salary for other locations will be determined accordingly. RESPONSIBILITIES 3 Support, help scale and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy to deepen donor engagement, attract new donors and increase donations through email, direct mail and other pathways 3 Manage relationships and outputs of external consultants, serving as primary point of contact and ensuring project deliverables and timelines are met 3 Lead day-to-day management of the individual giving program, including oversight of the Senior Manager, Development Systems and the Development Assistant. 3 Serve as liaison between the Development and Communications departments, collaborating with marketing leads on integrated individual giving strategies 3 Collaborate with other Development team members on strategy, donor trends and data needs 3 Drive email strategy and calendar coordination for all individual giving touchpoints and cultivation communications 3 Conduct direct mail co-op list analysis to optimize list acquisition and performance 3 Collaborate on HubSpot data management and segmentation, maintaining clean donor records and building lists and workflows that support the program 3 Develop and refine donor journeys in partnership with Senior Manager, Development Systems, with attention to the full arc from acquisition through retention and upgrade 3 Oversee development operations functions including gift processing, finance reconciliation, donor receipting and database integrity 3 Identify and implement evolving process improvements and automation opportunities (alongside the Operations team) to reduce manual workload and scale program capacity 3 Steward and grow the mid-level donor segment as a pipeline to the major gifts program 3 Produce regular performance reporting on individual giving revenue, donor retention, and acquisition metrics 3 Other responsibilities and tasks, as assigned QUALIFICATIONS 3 8+ years of experience in individual giving, direct response fundraising, or annual fund management, preferably in an international human rights or social justice context 3 Demonstrated experience managing external agency or vendor relationships 3 Proficiency with DonorPerfect, FundraiseUp, HubSpot or a comparable CRM; comfort with segmentation, list management, and reporting 3 Working knowledge of direct mail best practices, including co-op list analysis and list hygiene 3 Experience developing or managing email fundraising programs, including cultivation sequences and acquisition campaigns 3 Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate across teams and departments 3 Comfort with data and reporting; able to translate metrics into program decisions 3 Experience managing staff or direct reports preferred 3 Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment 3 Deep commitment and passion for LGBTIQ advocacy on a global level 3 Experience working with or for global and/or Global South organizations or communities is a strong plus
