MMI Engineered Solutions is seeking a strategic Human Resources Director to lead all aspects of our Human Resources function. This position serves as a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support business objectives, workforce development, employee engagement, and organizational growth.

The Human Resources Director will provide leadership across talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll administration, compliance, training and development, and HR operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on HR leader who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement Human Resources strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance on workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Advise leadership on workforce implications of business decisions and organizational changes.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and support long-term business growth.

Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
  • Direct all talent acquisition activities including workforce planning, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract, develop, and retain high-performing employees.
  • Analyze workforce trends and staffing needs to support current and future business demands.

Employee Relations and Performance Planning
  • Oversee employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers regarding performance management, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices.
  • Support a positive workplace culture through proactive employee engagement initiatives.

Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll
  • Oversee compensation programs, salary administration, benefits administration, leave management, and payroll operations.
  • Evaluate compensation data and recommend competitive compensation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and benefit program requirements.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

Training, Development, and Succession Planning
  • Lead employee development, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Identify organizational training needs and implement development programs.
  • Promote continuous learning and career growth opportunities throughout the organization.
  • Support managers in developing and retaining high-performing teams.

Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee HR policies, employee handbooks, recordkeeping practices, and internal investigations.
  • Manage unemployment claims, workers' compensation programs, employment-related audits, and legal compliance matters.
  • Support regulatory audits and employment litigation activities as needed.

Saftey, Wellness, and Culture
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety to support workplace safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and culture-building programs.
  • Develop initiatives designed to improve retention, morale, and overall organizational effectiveness.

HR Operations and Analytics
  • Oversee HRIS administration, employee records, reporting, and HR operational processes.
  • Develop and monitor HR metrics including turnover, retention, recruiting effectiveness, absenteeism, and employee engagement.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop Human Resources team members.
  • Establish departmental goals and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a service-oriented HR team focused on supporting employees and business success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting organizations with 200+ employees preferred.
  • Strong background in employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, payroll administration, organizational development, and employment law compliance.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certification preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, workforce planning, compensation analysis, and HR metrics.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management abilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change and culture initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
Work Environment and Expectations
  • Primarily office-based in a manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional visits to the production floor - adhering to all company safety policies and use of PPE while on production floor
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive employee and business information.
