Full Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY

Under general supervision, leads the HR and EHS strategy for NASG in North America (including Mexico) that will be aligned with and support the business plan for NASG. Provide overall direction in every functional area of HR including Environmental, Health, and Safety. Work as a strategic partner with the Executive Staff to achieve the overall vision and mission of the company. Oversee the strategy development, planning, organization, implementation, direction and administration of various HR & EHS functions. Responsible for standardization, conformity, and accountability of HR & EHS policies and procedures across all facilities and to develop and lead significant programs that maximize recruitment, performance management, and training & development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Develop the strategies and provide leadership in the implementation of the consolidation of policies, compensation systems, training and development, communication plans, associate surveys, retirement planning systems, welfare benefits, safety, environmental and security, best practices for all NASG facilities.
  1. Ensure standardization of HR & EHS policies and procedures across all plants.
  2. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure compliance.
  3. Assess and anticipate HR/EHS-related needs and seek to develop integrated solutions.
  4. Manages HR/EHS budget and countermeasures variances to budget versus actual.
  1. Provide leadership in developing and executing HR/EHS strategy in support of overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession and progressive planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation.
  1. Restructure the HR/EHS functions to provide best in class services to all NASG associates.
  2. Coordinate and strategize with the NASG facility management teams the implementation of the business plan.
  3. Develop and maintain HR & EHS policies and procedures throughout organization.
  4. Align HR & EHS objectives with company objectives.
  5. Partners with executive management to develop appropriate strategies for associates regarding associate relations, disciplinary action, operations, and performance issues.
  6. Provide strategic leadership by articulating HR/EHS needs and plans to executive management.
  1. Provide leadership and direction in the design, development and implementation and completion of numerous processes and systems to ensure associates are trained and developed.
  1. Develop organizational development tools systems and processes to create highly motivated associates at NASG.
  2. Develop/improve overall training program to ensure maximization of associates' talents and abilities.
  3. Lead and implement significant programs and processes across organization, such as progressive planning, succession planning, performance management, and associate development.
  4. Improve and increase apprenticeship programs and training.
  5. Investigate implementation on the NIMS training and certification program.
  6. Oversees training and development function.
  1. Coordinate with all NASG companies to ensure positive associate relations and best practices leadership.
  1. Act as company change agent and foster positive attitudes toward company goals.
  2. Responsible for annual associate satisfaction survey at all locations, including coordinating, implementing, interpreting, and corrective actions.
  1. Provide overall leadership and guidance to HR & EHS function across all locations.
  1. Leads the HR/EHS teams and sets the standards for performance and accountability.
  2. Support all NASG companies on general human resources and EHS issues.
  3. Formulate partnerships across the HR/EHS functions to deliver value-added service to associates at all levels that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
  4. Builds strong relationships and provides quality HR/EHS service to plant operations, technical center and home office.
  5. Informs and educates staff about Human Resources policies, procedures, performance management, recruitment/labor planning, and associate relations issues.
  6. Performs site visits to understand key HR/EHS issues impacting plant operations.
  7. Conveys local, state, and federal laws to field to maintain compliance.
  8. Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with plant HR to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  1. Lead activities to attract, retain, and reward associates.
  1. Design and implement pay systems and structure for hourly and salaried associates.
  2. Ensure data is collected to ensure we are competitive in compensation.
  3. Oversees benefit planning, development, costs and programming to be competitive and retain associates.
  4. Create strategies for keeping the benefit cost at a minimum for all NASG companies.
  5. Create strategies and coordinate the implementation of incentive systems to increase the level of associate performance.
  6. Establish sound talent acquisition strategies and processes to ensure a steady flow of qualified candidates to meet NASG's staffing needs.
  7. Lead recruitment and hiring of corporate positions.
  1. Responsible for leading each NASG company to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable Federal, Provincial, and State Laws, reduce injuries, injury costs, control risks, as well as to establish uniformity in the development and administration of all applicable programs and policies at all NASG Divisions.
  1. Audit and ensure a safe work environment and environmentally compliant company for all NASG companies.
  2. Ensure the maintenance and implementation of ISO14001 certification for all NASG companies.
  3. Lead the organization in development and implementation of sound Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  1. Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization, including associate relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, associate concerns, external education, and career development.
  1. Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce HR/EHS policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company.
  2. Oversee the development, standardization, and administration of associate handbooks and/or policy manuals.
  3. Manage the HRIS database and necessary reports for critical analyses of the HR function and the people resources of the company.
  4. Maintain company uniform program to ensure standardization and compliance.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Business Administration, HR Management, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in related field and/or Professional certification is preferred.


Experience:
  • 15 years of progressive HR generalist work.
  • 5-10 years of management role with supervisory responsibilities.
  • 3 years of multi-site responsibility with Canada/Mexico a plus.
  • HR management experience with multi-site responsibility in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Experience at an OEM and/or Tier 1/II supplier to automaker helpful.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, associate relations, diversity, performance management, associate development, change management, and national and state-respective employment, environmental, health and safety laws.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems, Internet, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with talent management, including recruitment, succession planning, and associate development.
  • Demonstrated positive associate relations activities.
  • Experience in interviewing, project management, change management, and conflict management/resolution.
  • Knowledge and Organizational skills necessary to maintain company records in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and/or state employment laws including, but not limited to, the following: FLSA, FMLA, ERISA, ADA, EEO, HIPAA, OSHA, EPA, Workers' Compensation, Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Mexico Federal Labor Law, etc.
