Full Job Description
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
  • Fostering a positive and productive work environment by facilitating open communication channels within DBU and encouraging dialogue between employees and leadership
  • Ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations while managing employee benefits and addressing employee concerns in accordance with DBU policies

  • Experience in higher education or faith-based organizations preferred


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with Chief of Staff on strategic workforce planning, policy development, and institutional HR initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks; recommend best practices and recommend revisions to HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with DBU's mission
  • Manage Leave of Absences, including but not limited to FMLA, Maternity/Parental, ADA, and Administrative leaves; approve routine leave requests within established guidelines
  • Oversee benefits compliance, ACA compliance, and other regulatory documentation; maintain organized records and support reporting needs for IPEDS, NDT, 990, and similar filings
  • Manage processes for Worker's Compensation claims from beginning to end, including coordination with insurance carriers and regulatory reporting
  • Prepare annual OSHA reporting and ensure workplace safety compliance
  • Keep personnel files in compliance with retention policies
  • Manage relationships with insurance carriers and brokers; negotiate contracts and service agreements within approved parameters; resolve escalated issues and ensure accurate plan administration
  • Process monthly benefit plan payments, submittals, journal entries, and reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepare materials and logistics for the annual Open Enrollment process
  • Manage the retiree insurance continuation program, including processing monthly premium receivables and coordinating Open Enrollment annually
  • Provide oversight for benefits data integrity, including weekly carrier feeds and HRIS benefit updates; proof benefit deductions on each payroll and transmit HSA contributions after each payroll
  • Process all purchase orders for vendor invoicing, reimbursements, and related transactions
  • Collaborate with leaders in conflict resolution, facilitating discussions between employees and leadership to address employee concerns in a timely manner
  • Oversee administration of the Performance Review Policy, ensuring compliance with review and appeal procedures, maintaining records, and providing guidance on the application of policy requirements.
  • Coordinate with HR Investigations Coordinator on investigations as needed and work with leadership on appropriate disciplinary action for violations of DBU policy
  • Coach managers on handling Human Resource matters, promoting a consistent approach in accordance with DBU policies
  • Respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner, escalating inquiries to Chief of Staff when needed
  • Collaborate with Onboarding Specialist to ensure seamless new employee integration and orientation experiences aligned with DBU's mission and culture
  • Assist with New Staff Orientation and ensure completion of required documentation and training
  • Facilitate employee training through ADP eLearning and other platforms
  • Manage and facilitate the Wellness Program, including portal maintenance, programs, luncheons, reporting, and awards


WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

WORK LOCATION:

This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
