Director of HR, Americas

Job Description

Shape how 1,000 people experience work

We're looking for an HR leader who thinks like a business leader - someone who can look at a growth plan and immediately see the talent, structure, and culture it will take to get there.

As Director of HR for the Americas, you'll own the people strategy across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America for a $1.5B business. You'll lead a talented team of 20, sit on the Americas Executive Team, and help steer global HR direction as part of Axis' Global HR Management Team. Expect to travel around the region - and to our HQ in Sweden, where fika is a legitimate business activity.

What you'll do:

Be the voice of people at the executive table. Advise leaders on the decisions that shape careers and organizations. Lead workforce planning, org design, and change initiatives that keep pace with a fast-moving business.

Build the bench. Shape how we attract, develop, and keep great people. Strengthen succession planning and leadership development so the next generation of Axis leaders is already in the building.

Protect and grow the culture. Champion an inclusive, high-performing workplace that reflects the one-of-a-kind Axis culture. Handle complex employee relations with fairness and sound judgment. Track engagement - then actually do something with what you learn.

Get total rewards right. Keep compensation, benefits, and recognition competitive, equitable, and compliant across three very different regional landscapes.

Keep us on solid ground. Ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and Latin American labor law. Partner with Legal on employment matters and risk. Maintain HRIS integrity and use data to drive decisions.

Lead a team that leads. Coach, empower, and grow your HR Business Partners and Specialists - and design service delivery that balances global consistency with local reality.

What you bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership, including 5+ years at the executive table
  • Multi-country experience and a track record leading managers
  • Sharp business acumen - you translate strategy into programs people can feel
  • Sound judgment in ambiguous situations with no clear path
  • Ability to balance consistency and fairness with the specifics of each situation
  • A coaching mindset, high emotional intelligence, and genuine resilience
  • Cultural fluency and executive presence
  • Bachelor's in HR, Business, or related field (Master's and SPHR/SHRM-SCP a plus)
  • Expert data and people analytics skills - including benefits claims and utilization data to inform plan design.

Nice to have: Self-funded health plan experience (strong fully insured background with curiosity to learn also welcome), tech, or commercial industry background, Workday, Spanish and/or Portuguese.

The practical details: Up to 20% travel, domestic and international. Ability to lift 20 lbs. This is an on-site position with the flexibility to work one day per week remotely. You'll need to live in - or be willing to relocate to - the Chelmsford, MA area.

This role pays up to $300K OTE including base salary, commission and bonus

Sound like your kind of challenge? We'd love to hear from you.
