Job Summary and Qualifications

This leadership position will be responsible for the integrity and safe operation of the entire facility by insuring a safe environment for patient care in following all JCAHO, State and Federal guidelines and the hospital's policies and vision. This position will be responsible for implementing training and preventive maintenance programs for education on safety with equipment operation and control. This position will have responsibility to maintain and operate the hospital's power plant, energy management computer system and HVAC distribution. This position will be required to perform testing, instruction, and maintenance of the hospital's emergency backup system, all of which require a thorough understanding of controls application. This position requires the ability to respond and interact with others in a courteous and collaborative manner.

  • You will insure the hospital remains in compliance with all State, Federal and JCAHO requirements at all times.
  • You will assign staff to carry out needed scheduled/unscheduled work. You will serve as safety officer of the hospital; implements fire, safety and security plans.
  • You will insure safe and continuous operation of the power plant, medical gas system and utilities.
  • You will maintain proper ventilation/temperature of the hospital.
  • You will monitor and evaluate the BioMed department for performance and compliance.
  • You will develop and implement policies and procedures as related to plant operations.
  • You will maintain staffing and operational expenses at a minimum.
  • You will supervise and schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for departmental operation.
  • You will perform annual performance evaluations of subordinates timely.
  • You will manage the preventive maintenance program and maintain an equipment history log.
  • You will provide in-service training as needed for all departments.
  • You will supervise, direct and plan the operation of the Plant Operations Department.
  • You will operate the Plant Operations Department within budget.
  • You will perform employee orientation of fire and safety procedures. Evaluate/modify fire and disaster drills.
  • You will work with clinical staff to schedule any maintenance issues that may affect patient care.
  • You will effectively work with outside contractors on jobs outsourced.
  • You will maintain confidentiality of all information related to hospital operations, patients, visitors or staff.
  • You will respond to issues of harassment and discrimination per company policy.
  • You will complete employee evaluation(s) in a timely manner per company policy.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Minimum of ten years' experience in related trades with a combination of new construction installation and service troubleshooting on commercial applications, five years of which must be hospital focused.
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience is required.
  • Associate's Degree-Major: Plant or Mechanical Engineering or related field
