Director of Hospice Growth & Business DevelopmentInterim HealthCare of HoustonThis is not a traditional hospice sales position.We are looking for someone who wants ownership of growth.Someone who can walk into a hospital, physician office, senior living community, or skilled nursing facility and build relationships, but who can also step back, evaluate the Houston market, identify opportunities, create a growth strategy, and help build the sales organization we will need as the hospice division expands.
You will not be starting from zero.You will have the backing of an established Houston home health organization, an experienced leadership team, existing referral relationships, operational infrastructure, and a recognized healthcare brand.
What we need is the right person to help turn that foundation into a significant hospice presence in Houston.
The OpportunityAs Director of Hospice Growth & Business Development, you will be responsible for helping drive the growth of Interim Hospice throughout the Houston market.
Initially, this will be a highly hands-on role.You will personally develop referral relationships, open accounts, generate referrals, work alongside our clinical and admissions teams, and help grow hospice census.
But this role is bigger than an individual territory.You will also help determine:
- Where we should focus our growth efforts
- Which referral sources and market segments offer the greatest opportunity
- How we approach hospitals, physicians, SNFs, assisted living communities, and other partners
- How we differentiate Interim Hospice in the Houston market
- What our hospice sales processes and expectations should look like
- How we eventually build and develop a high-performing hospice sales team
We are looking for someone who wants to build the engine, not simply operate inside one.What You'll OwnYou will serve as the senior business development leader for our hospice division and will be expected to take meaningful ownership of growth.
- Developing and executing the Houston hospice growth strategy
- Building relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare partners
- Leveraging and expanding relationships already established through Interim HealthCare of Houston
- Personally developing new referral sources and opening strategic accounts
- Growing hospice referrals, admissions, and overall census
- Identifying high-opportunity territories, accounts, and market segments
- Creating account development strategies for key referral partners
- Educating healthcare professionals, patients, and families about hospice services and eligibility
- Working closely with clinical leadership and admissions to ensure referrals move quickly and smoothly into care
- Identifying referral barriers and helping our organization solve them
- Establishing sales activity expectations, referral tracking, and business development processes
- Monitoring market activity, referral trends, and competitive opportunities
- Representing Interim Hospice at industry, community, and networking events
- Helping recruit, mentor, and develop future hospice sales professionals as the organization grows
- Becoming one of the most trusted hospice resources in the Houston healthcare community
Who We're Looking ForThis position is designed for an experienced healthcare business development professional who is ready for more ownership.
The strongest candidates will have:
- Significant healthcare sales, business development, or market growth experience
- Hospice or palliative care business development experience strongly preferred
- A demonstrated history of generating referrals and growing healthcare business
- Existing relationships within the Houston healthcare market
- Experience developing physician, hospital, SNF, assisted living, or senior care referral relationships
- The ability to both create strategy and execute it personally
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Confidence developing new relationships at every level of an organization
- A track record of opening accounts and turning relationships into consistent referral volume
- The ability to analyze a market, identify opportunities, and prioritize resources
- A competitive, entrepreneurial mindset
- High accountability and strong follow-through
- Genuine compassion for patients and families
Previous leadership experience is valuable, but we are equally interested in a proven hospice or healthcare salesperson who is ready to take the next step into a larger leadership role.
A bachelor's degree is preferred, but relationships, experience, leadership ability, and demonstrated results matter more to us than credentials alone.
Clinical experience is also a plus.
Because this is a field-based leadership position, reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance are required.
