Full Job Description
Whom we are looking for
UTMC is looking to hire an experienced, energetic, driven, personable Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) professional with demonstrated experience in a multi-state industrial/ manufacturing environment. This position develops and implements HSE, sustainability-related, and other compliance programs. This is a multi-site support role working under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer and in conjunction with site management and HSE specialists at the plants to build capability and provide HSE subject-matter expertise and functional support for manufacturing. Plant HSE leads report directly to the plant managers with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director. This is an on-site position. The Director will be based at the City of Industry headquarters or one of UTMC's domestic manufacturing factories.

What you will do
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries and accidents, including equipment modification/ upgrade recommendations and forward-looking policies to enhance a safe and ergonomic work environment.
• Monitor workers' compensation claims and coordinate with factory HSE specialists and legal counsel to help evaluate claims, recommend measures to reduce workplace injuries, and alert management to trends or safety issues.
• Implement, evaluate and/or certify effectiveness of company HSE and sustainability programs and systems through inspections and audits.
• Collect and analyze HSE and sustainability data and develop goals, dashboards, and metrics to track effectiveness.
• Work with Human Resources and facilities managers to develop relevant training programs providing compliance with relevant regulations and enhancing emergency preparedness through appropriate drills and procedures.
• Oversee management of all environmental compliance (permitting) ensuring permits are up to date and followed at the plant level. This includes accurate and timely submission of reporting to regulatory agencies.
• Monitor workers' compensation claims and coordinate with factory HSE specialists and legal counsel to help evaluate claims, recommend measures to reduce workplace injuries, and alert management to trends or safety issues.
• Research and recommend vendors and negotiate contracts with vendors selected to provide services related to HSE and sustainability projects.
• Supervises facilities/maintenance staff responsible for corporate headquarters and the research and development facility.
• Manage Intelex System software.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Who will you report to and interact with
• Report to the Chief Legal Officer
• Regular interaction with Company's officers, Department Directors, and factory management.

What qualifications and competencies you need to bring to the job
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years' management-level experience in the HSE and sustainability field, in a multistate industrial/ manufacturing environment.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Great attention to detail.
• Superb standard of ethics along with the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality, and sensitivity towards issues and individuals.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
• Possess high motivation and ability to set and reach realistic but ambitious goals.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Proficient in Intelex or other EHS-related software.
• Knowledge of and experience with Mexico's HSE regulatory and legal framework a plus.
• Experience with family run / privately held business is a plus.
• Supervisor references if invited to interview.

Compensation
• Salary Range: $140,000 to $170,000 annually.
