Job Details:Mercer University is searching for a Director of Graduate Admissions for the College of Professional Advancement on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Graduate Admissions is responsible for all phases of the recruitment and admissions process for graduate programs offered by the College of Professional Advancement. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervising the graduate admissions team, which may include an Admissions Counselor, an Enrollment Associate, and student workers; travel for recruitment; inquiry development; application completion and review; student interviewing; professional presentations; and correspondence. Working with a high degree of independence, the incumbent reports regularly to the AVP of Enrollment Management and works cooperatively with the Dean, all Academic Program Directors, and staff members engaged in marketing and communication, data operations, admissions, alumni and development, and career services. The incumbent will supervise the development of partnership agreements for all graduate programs, including Counseling, Leadership Studies, and Technology programs.
Duties include:
- Manage recruitment, admissions, and enrollment activities for qualified graduate students across all College of Professional Advancement graduate programs, including Counseling, Leadership Studies, and Technology programs. This also includes supervising the recruitment and admissions efforts of an admissions team comprising an Admissions Counselor, Enrollment Associate, and graduate student workers.
- Assist with the strategic planning activities of the graduate office of admissions, including campus-wide enrollment events and organizing monthly enrollment progression meetings with the academic leadership of the College of Professional Advancement.
- Show initiative and leadership in assuming new responsibilities, identifying enrollment opportunities, and setting a standard of professionalism for the admissions staff.
- Recommend to the AVP policies and practices designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the admissions office.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and three years of relevant experience, which must include experience in higher education, are required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Database enrollment management techniques.
- Ability to implement state-of-the-art marketing and recruitment strategies.
- Planning, organizing and management skills.
- Leadership and team building skills.
- Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for letters, mailings, etc.
- Understanding the specific needs of post traditional graduate students.
