SUMMARY
The Director of Golf leads all golf operations at Black Butte Ranch, home to two scenic 18-hole championship courses-Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow-set among Ponderosa pines with Cascade Mountain views. The Ranch's golf experience includes practice facilities, golf shops, PGA instruction, tournaments, group outings, equipment rentals, and the Little Meadow Putting Course. This role oversees guest service, staffing, financial performance, retail, tournaments, and player development while partnering across departments to deliver an exceptional golf experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead daily operations for both courses, Golf shops, practice facilities, outside services, and golf car fleet.
• Maintain exceptional service for Ranch owners, guests, groups, and employees.
• Develop budgets and monitor revenue, labor, retail inventory, and operating performance.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to grow group golf outings, tournaments, repeat play, and player-development programs.
• Coordinate tournaments, leagues, instruction, junior golf, and special events with Golf Pros and other departments.
• Lead seasonal workforce planning, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and retention.
• Maintain procedures for severe weather, heat, wildfire smoke, air quality, evacuation, and other disruptions; ensure applicable Oregon outdoor-worker safety requirements are followed.
• Partner with the Golf Course Superintendent on maintenance, capital projects, course playability
• Maintain safe equipment and facilities; resolve service concerns and enforce golf rules and Ranch policies consistently.
• Represent Golf Operations in leadership planning and maintain productive vendor, association, and community relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• PGA membership in good standing, preferably Class A, or equivalent golf-industry credentials and leadership experience.
• Seven years of progressively responsible golf operations experience, preferably in a multi-course, private club, or resort setting.
• Demonstrated success leading seasonal teams and managing budgets, revenue, retail, tournaments, and guest service.
• Knowledge of golf rules, tee-sheet and point-of-sale systems, and safety requirements.
• Strong communication, judgment, collaboration, and service-recovery skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work onsite, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak-season hours as needed.
