Position Overview:The
Director of Finance at OrthoArkansas provides financial leadership for the organization and oversees the full finance and accounting function. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role owns the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while partnering with the CEO to support the organization's strategic direction. The Director of Finance ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, strengthens internal controls, and transforms financial data into actionable insights that drive operational excellence, physician partnership, and long-term financial success.
Key Responsibilities:1. Financial Leadership & Reporting- Oversee the full accounting and finance function, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reports.
- Lead the monthly and annual financial close process, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
- Monitor, interpret, and analyze financial performance, providing recommendations and actionable insights to the CEO and executive leadership.
- Partner with the CEO to support strategic planning through financial forecasting, modeling, pro formas, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Champion the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Finance and Accounting, remaining committed to learning and implementing AI-driven solutions that improve efficiency and decision-making.
2. Physician Compensation & Financial Analysis- Administer and maintain physician compensation models, including production- and collections-based compensation plans and partner distributions.
- Develop and maintain provider-level and service-line profitability analyses, including ancillary services such as surgery, imaging, physical therapy, and durable medical equipment (DME).
- Monitor financial performance across departments and identify opportunities to improve revenue and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial guidance to leadership regarding compensation models and operational performance.
3. Treasury, Budgeting & Compliance- Direct treasury management, including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and financial controls.
- Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process in collaboration with organizational leadership.
- Ensure audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls that safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Support financial compliance related to physician compensation and healthcare regulations.
4. Leadership & Collaboration- Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the Finance and Accounting team.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison with banking partners, auditors, and external financial consultants.
- Educate and advise physicians and department leaders on financial matters that impact operational performance and organizational success.
- Foster collaboration across departments to support informed decision-making and organizational growth.
5. Additional Responsibilities- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the financial success and operational excellence of OrthoArkansas.
Qualifications:Education & Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience.
- Prior experience overseeing both finance and accounting operations preferred.
- Healthcare finance experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities:- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial analysis.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop teams while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day financial operations.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information to executive leadership and physicians.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality regarding financial and compensation information.
- Interest in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve financial operations and reporting.
